"You've gotta be shitting me" I muttered. Just outside the entrance was Owen floating before the barrier. How he got here I didn't know and I wasn't intending to find out.
Instead what I was wondering about was what he was doing here. He was supposed to be on Mars, a planet away, granted the distance was just a portal away. But still, I doubt the Hargreaves family would just let him leave anytime he wanted.
Mars was the Hargreaves family's territory, it can be said that they are the overlords of the planet and every other noble clans or families are their vassals.
I walked over to the barrier and before I even did anything, Owen waved with a grin. "Aren't you going to let me in?" he mouthed. With a resigned sigh I went to the security control panel and opened a door sized entrance on the barrier. Now this could have been a lot easier if there was an AI in the house, I could just say it and the barrier would be down. But the servers still haven't arrived yet.
And speaking of the barrier, it wasn't nearly as potent as the the one in the academy's dorms. Any gold rank worth his salt could break the barrier around this house. Its mainly against beasts and people silver rank downwards.
"What are you doing doing here?" I asked in a dry tone as soon as he passed through. "What, can't I come to visit my best friend!?" he exclaimed. "sigh just come in" I said not ready for his antics.
We then went into the living area.
"What?" I asked as I felt Owen staring at me.
"what?"
"why are you staring at me?"
"Aren't you going to ask how I found you or how I found....here?" he asked motioning to the house.
"No" I remarked dryly.
"why?"
"Not interested" I said. It was a no brainer how he found me. In this world, with money, influence and power, you can get anything you wish and any information you want.
"Nice house by the way" he commented.
"Thank you" I replied.
"So what are you doing here?" I once again asked.
"You see, how do I put this?" he started. "It was horribly boring as hell at home, so I decided to come find you so we could go out for some fun. So what do you say?" he asked with expectant eyes.
"Nope, I'm fine saying here" I shook my head after a moment.
"Come on Adam, it's gon be fun" he pleaded.
"Nope, at least not today" I said. I wasn't against going out or having the so called fun, just that I was awaiting deliveries and I couldn't just leave them now can I?
"Hmmm, I can work with that, so which room am I taking?" he asked.
"What?" he asked after seeing me staring at him and not answering.
"You do realize you're crashing my house warming right?" I said more of a statement rather than a question.
"Then all the more good that I'm here. You can't have a good house warming party without friends now can you?" he smirked.
Just then my smartwatch rang, signifying a message, reading through the message, I stood up and headed for the door but not before turning to Owen and saying "wait a moment I'll be back, don't do anything stupid".
"Hey what do you take me for?" he protested but I ignored him and headed to the front porch. There a drone stood hovering and in it's grappling hook was a small box which I assumed or rather definitely knew was my order.
So I went back and opened the barrier once more, enabling the drone to land on my front porch. I took the box that was the size of two palms from the drone. And then the drone flew off.
Opening the box, there were two finger sized nano sticks resting inside. They were the shared servers. Honestly I wasn't expecting them to be this small. As Daisy's server in my parents basement were big rectangular boxes, granted Daisy and her servers were at the very least 17 years old since they were in the house even before I was born.
"Daisy start synchronization" I said as I released the servers from their confinement.
"I'm sorry, I cannot do that" she answered curtly.
"And why not!?" I asked perplexed.
"I would only able to synchronize with the shared servers through my main server".
"So what you're saying is I would have to go back to millennium city before I could get this to work!?" I asked.
"Affirmative".
"And you didn't see the need to tell me? We could have just placed the order's address at millennium city instead of here" I said.
"I'll do that next time" she said matter of factly.
Sighing I entered the living area. "Sigh I've been sighing a lot today" I muttered but then I realized that I did it again.
"Hey Owen....." I started
"What are you doing!?" I asked the boy who was floating upside down. "Perception training " he replied.
"And you saw the need to do it inside a living room?"
"Forget that, I'm going to run an errand, I'll be away for atmost thirty minutes, just like before don't do anything stupid.
"No, I'm definitely going with you" he said instantly landing back on his feet.
"Fine by me" I said and with that, we headed for the portal station of the surrounding area. We flew there and it wasn't illegal since Aragon hills wasn't exactly a metropolitan city, so there were no chances of colliding with flying shuttles or tall skyscrapers.
As soon as we landed, we became the circus crew of the audience in the area.
-"Did you see that!? They're bloodline holders".
-"And high rank ones at that. It is said that only when one reached gold rank could they fly.
-"They look so young, shouldn't they be in the academy?"
-"What do you know, bloodline holders don't age as quickly as us normal folk".
-"shhh, be careful not to offend them".
We ignored the people that kept chattering about us and bought a ticket for millennium city. Perhaps it was because we were bloodline holders but the people in line easily moved away and allowed us to go first.
