Chapter 6 - Bittersweet Reunion

Selena

5 years later

My mother's warm smile appear on the screen, as I answered the video call followed by the excited face of my twins, Ciro and Talia.

"Mammy!" they chorused, their voices filled with joy as they waved eagerly at the screen.

"Hey there, my little heroes!" I greeted them with a big smile, filled with love at seeing their happy faces. "How are my munchkins doing today?"

"Good, but we misssss you mom!" They both replied eagerly.

Ciro, always the more rambunctious of the two, immediately launched into a long string of stories about all the games and adventures he and Talia had been up to that day. Talia nodded along vigorously, jumping in to add her own commentary and details every so often.

"These two heroes surely gave me a hard time today," my mom chuckled, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "Kept saying they wanted to see their mommy. But they're good kids, just like their silly old grandma." She gave me a playful wink.

I laughed softly, feeling so grateful for my mother's constant love and support. "Thanks mom. I really don't know what I'd do without you."

"Oh honey, that's what family are for," she replied warmly. "We stick together through think and thin, no matter what."

The conversation continued, I couldn't help but marvel at how much my children had take after their father– Blaze. Ciro's raven hair and piercing blue eyes mirrored his father's, while Talia had inherited my own features - a constant reminder of the bond we shared.

"Mammy, when are you coming home?" Talia piped up suddenly, his eyes wide with longing. "I miss you." She shown her best poppy eyes.

"I missed you too." Ciro added mimicking Talia's poppy eyes.

My heart clenched at his words, the ache of separation threatening to overwhelm me. I wanted to live with them but I can't I have to keep them away from him to keep them safe. "Okay, my love, I'll drop in later" I promised, reaching out to touch the screen as though I could bridge the distance between us.

"Pinky promise?" She asked.

"Yeah, pinky promise."

Talia nodded solemnly, her expression mirroring her brother's. "Yayy. I can't wait to show you the new barbie granny gifted me..." She trailed.

Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes as I looked at their sweet faces, how hard it was for me to r protect their pregnancy and finally raised them all thanks to my mom.

"Okay dear, I love you both." I whispered, my voice thick with emotion.

"love you too, Mom," they chorused, their voices echoing in my heart long after the call ended.

I had just ended a video call when Enzo entered my office, with a bright smile on his chiseled face.

"Hey, love," Enzo greeted me with a gentle smile as he walked towards me, his eyes softening at the sight of me. "The meeting with the Midnight Blood is now, my queen. You ready?"

I returned his smile, feeling a warmth spread through me at his endearing nickname. "Yes, I'm ready," I replied, straightening the collar of my sleek suit with a determined nod.

Enzo offered me his arm, his touch comforting as we made our way to the meeting point - an abandoned warehouse that served as neutral ground for negotiations.

We walked together, hand in hand, Enzo kept up a steady flow of conversation, his voice calm and comforting. "You look lovely today," he said, gazing at me affectionately.

I felt a blush rising to my cheeks, touched by his kind words and constant support. "Oh, You're too sweet, you look handsome as ever as well," I replied, appreciating the warmth in his eyes.

When we arrived at the warehouse, Enzo stayed close by my side protectively, his presence reassuring in the tense atmosphere."Now remember, this is our first meeting with the Midnight mafia clan, and securing this deal is crucial. I've heard rumors they can be...unpredictable. We need to tread carefully here," he cautioned, and I gave a solemn nod of understanding.

"But don't worry, I'm here to keep you safe," he murmured quietly in my ear, giving me a reassuring little wink, though his voice filled with concern.

I nodded gratefully at Enzo, knowing he would protect me at any cost. "I believe in you," I said softly, squeezing his arm.

We entered the warehouse, the room was filled with men in suits. I scanned the room to see the mighty Midnight Blood, and my eyes widened in shock, and my breath caught in my throat.

There he was in a black sleek suit, hands tucked inside his pocket, with his same strong and mighty demeanor was Blaze - my mate, my tormentor, the source of so much pain and heartache.

Seeing him for the first time in five years stirred up a storm of emotions - pain, fear, anger. I hadn't forgotten the torment he put me through.

My heart was pounding and my mind was flooded was filled with past memories of how he torture me. I thought I have forgotten the past torment, but the scars still lingered deep down.

"Blaze," I breathed, barely able to form his name as a whisper.

But to my surprise, Blaze's eyes lit up when his blue eyes meet mine, relief wash over his face. Without thinking, he walked through and grabbed my hands tightly, sending a jolt through me.

"S..SSelena?" he whispered, his voice shaking and full of emotions. "I can't believe it's really you. I've searched for you for so long."

I was caught off guard by his words, unsure how to feel. Part of me wanted to believe he had changed, but I remained wary after everything he had put me through.

Before I could process it all, Enzo stepped in angrily, glaring at Blaze. "Who the fuck are you and what do you think you're doing? take your dirty hands off my fiancée." he growled, his voice low and tempting.

Blaze furrowed his brow and held on stubbornly. "She's my mate," he stated. "I'm simply taking to what's mine!" he replied, his gaze focus. "Selena, come to me."

Enzo tightened his grip on my arm. "Who do you think you're dealing with?," he spat, bitterly. "Leave her alone."

A tense silence fell over us. My mind was swirling, torn between my painful past with Blaze and this unexpected reunion.

But before I know it, Enzo's hand moved to the gun holstered at his side, his fingers curling around the handle with lethal intent. "Let go of her," he demanded, his voice a low growl. "Or I'll send you straight to hell."

I watched in disbelief as Enzo pointed the gun at Blaze, his eyes blazing with fury and determination. The gravity of the situation hit me like a ton of bricks, the realization sinking in that the fragile truce between our packs was on the brink of collapse.

Caught between the two Mafia Lord, and the other one who happens to be my mate.

I struggled to find my voice. Shocked, I stand there rooted in my stance. Torn between the dark past and the present, between my mate and fiance.

I stable my trembling breath, and yanked my hands from Blaze's grasp, taking a step back to stand beside Enzo. "Who are you Mister, are you not here for the Trade?," I yelled angry and pretending I don't know him.

Blaze's eyes widened in disbelief, hurt evident in his gaze as he struggled to comprehend my rejection. "Selena, please, don't do this," he pleaded, his voice laced with desperation. "You know who I am. We were mates, destined to be together."

Destine? He got some guts after what he had done to me.

I remained stoic, maintaining the facade that I did not recognize this man from my past. "I have no idea who you are," I stated firmly, my tone icy. "We have no interest in whatever fantasies you've concocted. Excuse us, we have important matters to discuss."

Enzo's jaw clenched with barely-contained fury as he observed the tense interaction, fists tightening at his sides. "You heard her," he spat, venom oozing from each word. "Let go of her now, or I'll decorate these walls with your brains."

Blaze's expression darkened with frustration, his patience clearly wearing thin as he fought to keep composed. "I refuse to let her go. She belongs with me!" he snarled through gritted teeth.

But before another word left his lips, Enzo lunged forward, delivering a brutal punch to Blaze's jaw that sent him stumbling backwards in shock.

Gunshots suddenly rang out piercingly as the warehouse erupted into mayhem, the two mob bosses facing off violently amidst the chaos.

I watched the nightmarish scene unfold with horror, conflicted between the two men who both claimed me as their own.

Just what did I get myself into?

In that dreadful moment, I stand there in delemma, knowing the choice I make now define my future.

My hands were shaking as I reached for the pistol that was tucked in my waistband, my mind racing to what to do next!

Who should I pick? Who truly deserved me.
