Evil can't Continue to Reign

It was quite late in the evening when Gloria tapped Naomi and asked to speak with her privately. Naomi had just taken off her uniform and was about to slip into her daywear when Gloria's plea to speak with her interrupted her. Before she could respond, Gloria was already on her way out the door. Hurriedly, Naomi stashed a recording device in her small pouch before walking in Gloria's direction. The time was near! Her brother was about to get the justice he rightly deserved! Her parents would be proud of her. With a shaky smile on her face, Naomi left, praying silently that everything will work out well.

While Naomi prayed silently for her plans to work out, Gloria walked ahead of her, with assurances ringing in her head that Pablo and his gang will take care of the Naomi and Anna who had become a pain in her ass. She looked behind and saw Naomi walking confidently behind her. She had no idea what was waiting for her… Gloria snickered.

Naomi couldn't understand why Gloria was headed out of the hostel and towards the back of the cafeteria, which was close to the boys' hostel. Her mind told her Gloria was up to no good, but her legs kept moving because she desperately wanted to get to the end of it all. She believed the end was near! And it wasn't her end, but the villains'.. So, she waved aside her skepticism and swallowed her fear, and continued walking behind Gloria.

Gloria was walking really fast and when they got to the back of the cafeteria and Naomi called out to her, but she said not a word as she disappeared into a corner. Naomi rushed after her, her heart beating erratically in her chest, and saw no sign of her.

She looked around, only to find out that she wasn't alone. Six angry looking boys surrounded her. Pablo had his hands in his pocket as she approached her and she was frightened. The desire to flee nagged at her. But her legs felt like they were stuck to the floor, and she couldn't move.

"I heard you came here for revenge. Modern day superwoman. I don't think your little brother told you about us and how we beat the shit out of him"

"Don't talk about my brother!" Naomi barked, but she got a stinging slap from Clinton before she could finish her sentence. She gasped as the pain of the slap made her ear sing. Breathing heavily, she became afraid that she was about to relive the horror her brother had suffered.

"I don't know who or what made you think we are easy to defeat. I am a Bernard and we are members of Young Daggers. Remember this when you are lying unconscious in the hospital like your little brother. We can't be easily defeated! We have the backings of the Deaconess and my father. And your little games won't get you anything," Clinton growled at her.

Naomi was dazed by the slap and the horrific things they were saying to her, but she was glad her recorder was recording everything they said. They may beat her to a pulp, but they won't cover up the truth this time.

"Guys, why are we wasting time talking too much? Let's do this!" one boy from behind hollered.

"But she is too fine for us not to explore… Are we to just beat her to stupor? I mean Clinton, don't you want to have a taste?" Pablo asked with a smirk on his face. "We all know you like her."

Clinton's heart started racing at the thought of abusing yet another girl. What he did to Sylvia still haunted him, but he couldn't let Pablo or anyone in his gang know that. He had to suck up his guilty feelings and just be a bad boy.

"I would like a taste of her, but we have to hurry before someone walks in on us. You guys know this isn't the time we usually operate!" Clinton stated boldly, trying so hard to hide his nervousness.

"Don't be sissy and do it Clinton!" One of the four boys with Pablo screamed at Clinton. Clinton glared at him, but when he saw Pablo's mean face, he knew what he had to do.

Naomi saw their arguments as an opportunity to escape, but as soon as she made a move to run, someone blocked her path and pushed her on the hard floor. She hit the floor and grazed her elbow. Her eyes widened in fear when she saw her own blood. And it reminded of her of seeing her poor brother bleeding and unconscious, and how her mum had wept while her father tried to stay strong. She didn't want to put them through that again! This can't be happening! She wept!

Her low sobs brought smiles to the faces of the vicious boys. She lay there on the bare floor, wondering what would happen next to her. She stiffened as she tried to control her tears…

Clinton stepped closer to her, and he wanted to shut his eyes so he wouldn't see her crying like Sylvia did. Instead, he clenched his lip and widened his eyes to make himself look scary to her and bold to the guys watching and smirking.

He was just about to lift her skirt up when the alarmed voice of an older woman barked from a distance.

"Oh my God! What are you guys doing? Get away from her!" Miss Clara, the matron, screamed. But the boys didn't wait for her to get closer before they all scampered off to their hostel. She didn't chase after them; she was more interested in helping the poor girl who was weeping on the floor.

"Are you okay? What happened? Did they hurt you?" She asked Naomi as she helped her up.

"I am fine, ma… thank you for rescuing me. I don't know what would have happened if you hadn't come here on time." Naomi said in between raspy breaths.

"Don't thank me, Thank Anna." The matron pointed at Anna, who was sobbing beside her.

Anna rushed then and hugged Naomi.

"This is what they did to Sylvia, my friend. And when your brother confronted them, they beat him up. I told you not to trust senior Gloria. I told you," Anna broke down.

"I know, I shouldn't have. But at least I got something here to use against them!" Naomi reached into her bag and brought out the recording device.

"What's all this I'm hearing? Has this happened before?" The matron asked the weeping girls.

The girls weren't sure if they could trust the matron, but they had no choice but to tell her the entire truth. The matron's mouth hung open when she was done listening to the girls' heart-breaking tale. But what shocked her the most was what she heard on the recording device. It was so hard for her to believe such evil things had happened in such a religious school. And that the school authority had covered it all up. She might not have believed the girls if she hadn't heard the recording of the boys' conversation. But the recording device convinced her that the girls were telling the truth.

"I can't believe this school could have covered up such evil? We can't let those brutes go unpunished. This is everything I am against… injustice, abuse, lies, bullying, gangsterism amongst young people and I won't let this slide."

"What do you want to do, ma?" Anna asked quietly.

"Take them to the school board myself." The matron grunted.

"Please ma, No… you would only end up putting yourself in trouble"

"In trouble with whom?"

"There's much going on in this school that you don't know about. Our former matron was dismissed with no warning. We don't know what happened, but we suspect the Deaconess has a hand in it." Anna said.

"And besides, the Deaconess would find a way to make herself look like a saint and exonerate the boys. You heard them say they have her backing them. Ma, we have a better plan. One she can't escape from." Naomi said, suddenly feeling a fresh surge of energy and desire to destroy the school completely.

When the matron finished listening to the girls' plan, she had faith in them and resolved to do whatever she could to help them succeed. Evil won't continue to reign, not on her watch.

"Are you okay" Anna asked Naomi for the umpteenth time, her eyes looking sadder than Naomi's. Naomi nodded with a smile on her face to assure Anna she was fine.

"I am scared they would try to attack you again!"

"No, they don't stand any chance against us… especially now we have the matron on our side."
