[End of Prologue] Encounter with Elf

Chapter 5: Encounter with Elf 

Elf, an extraordinary existence in fantasy world trope. Beautiful appearance, long lifespan, loved by spirit, well that kind of an elf. People said that elves never came out from their place due to some reasons. 

Due to some reason, they never want to be involved in any issues that include other races especially human. In the history of elves, humans and elves have an odd backstory in some ages. That's what I thought until... 

"Dear king, Reed. I have senses something approaching our palace, probably an elf." Asariel said while putting down a cup of coffee. 

"Elf? Understood. I will pick them up" I replied nonchalantly. 

"Huh? That fast? Shouldn't you ask me something more? Like what situation they are in, why they are approaching us..." 

"Oh...should I? Then, tell me everything, please." 

Asariel facepalmed herself. Probably, my way of speech was disappointed to her? Or did it just annoy her? But first, we need to help that elf before something happens to them. 

"Anyway, that elf is running away from human, she looks like having an injury. Probably from battle, a hard one. So, what do you think? Should we help them?" asked Asariel and crossed her arm under her chest. 

I nodded and quickly got up from the chair. I rushed toward the front door as fast as possible while wearing my black suit armor. I can't let this chance go to waste, don't I? 

"Let's go, Asariel!" I ordered as I sheathed my sword. As fast as I could, I stepped out from the mansion and rushed towards the elf. 

Asariel nodded and follow me from behind. With the hope that the elf will still be alive, we hide behind the bushes waiting for a perfect moment. Later, we saw the elf and a knight chased her. 

Without wasting time, I shouted at her. As I shouted, the knight stopped their action and retreated. An elf also stopped but later fell to the ground due to exhaustion from running away from them. 

I approach the elf and crouch in front of her. Then, I reached out my hand to help her up. The elf gives me scared and confused face. Later, she grabbed my hand and slowly get on her feet while leaning on me. 

After that, Asariel and I brough her to the mansion to give her some protection. She then explained to us the reason she was in that forest and was chased off by the knight. 

Apparently, the neighboring kingdom, Deral Kingdom, declared a war on elves' races. Of course, the elves couldn't let that happen and fought back. But the result of the war was massacred. 

The population of elves was gone. The female got abducted and the male got killed. A cruel and bloody war. Now only she who was left in her race. Her name is Erina Yindan, a tall and blonde elf. 

Well, I was really surprised when I saw her. Just like in history, the elves really are a beautiful race. I gazed at her up and down with curiosity. Asariel, who noticed me gazed at Erina slapped the back of my head. 

"What??" I groan pained by her slapped. 

"Please be respectful to women, my lord" replied her with calm but cold smile. 

"I just gaze...not in disrespectful way." 

"I can't see that at all, my lord." 

I sighed defeated. Well, what can I say. Anyway, what should I do with her now? I mean even I can't stay stable with my life. 

I looked at Erina. "Erina, what do you want to do now? Stay here or going on your journey?" I asked. Erina silently thinks about my question. Second later, she looks like she made up her mind. 

"I will stay here, my lord" she said with determination in her eyes. She really has a good pair of eyes, doesn't she? 

Suddenly a sound of notification popped inside my head. 

[DING!] 

[CONGRATULATION, MY LORD. YOU JUST OBTAINED ONE OF THE 7 PIECE!] 

7 pieces? What the heck is that?? Goddess didn't say anything about this! I glanced at Asariel. She seems like didn't hear that, so it's only me? But what is the meaning of this? Does goddess hide something from us? 

Then, the notification spoke again. 

[As you obtained a piece, the system is completely activated] 

"System? Explained it" I said by telepathic. 

[System was called "Board System". A guide for you to become a True King!] 

True King? Now what?? Goddess how much information do you hide from me and Asariel? But "Board System"? Goddess said that this world was created for entertainment for the 'Council'. But what is the purpose of this 'system'? I bet it is not only for guidance, is it? 

[My lord, just now you just obtained of the seven-piece, Rook.] 

"Rook?" I thought. 

[Yes, my lord. Rook pieces, the one of the best pieces for defensive, Erina Yandan, she is the Rook of your 'board' my lord.] 

My board, oh they mean kingdom. I see, a rook huh? Not bad, if the Rook strong point in defensive it's a good start for me. 

Suddenly someone called out my name. It's Asariel with a worried face. Probably because I was talked to the system so that's mean I was dazed off for a while huh? 

When I was back to my senses, Erina was gone. Asariel told me that Erina was sent to one of the empty rooms to make it hers. She also said that while I was dazed off, Erina said that she was tired and went to take a rest. Asariel also accepted Erina as the staff of the mansion. 

So many things happened while I was dazed off with the system. Should I ask Asariel about the system? I sighed. I don't know but not now. 

Seven-pieces, Board System and True King. What are they exactly? 

As Reed ran deeper into his thoughts, the other six kings also received their Board System too. That's mean, another kingdom has a Piece too? What will going to happen next? Nothing good I bet.
