[FDJ] Chapter 12: Virtual and Real Memories

A pure white ceiling and walls without unnecessary decorations. There are no picture frames or ornaments on the desk, only an essential personal computer, desk lamp, stationery, and other necessities. Apart from books related to the Holy Grail War, there is hardly any personal belonging left in the room.

If it were not for Suzuki, Yuki constantly remembered his name, perhaps he would not be able to find it even if he searched his dorm room.

Everything feels somewhat unfamiliar, but Suzuki can accept it; this is his single-person dorm room.

Suzuki opens his eyes, raises his hand, and covers his forehead. His head was still throbbing, and he could not tell if it was because of a prolonged improper sleeping position or if he had sustained an injury. He seems to have had a terrible dream just now, where he found himself in a destroyed city with a raging fire and no one survived.

[Observation device confirmed: Subject Suzuki Yuki has awakened.]

The monitoring machine placed at the bedside automatically transmits the message, indicating that Suzuki Yuki's condition is being monitored in real-time.

In less than 10 minutes, the cabin door of the room is opened, and three people enter Suzuki's dorm room.

"Are you awake? Don't move! Please lie down first and sit up only after confirming everything is fine!" A certain orange-haired male rushes to the front, gesturing Suzuki to put his hand down and obediently lie back on the bed. "Don't be nervous, it will be over soon."

The orange-haired male uses the scanning device he carries to instantly extract Suzuki's physical condition by analyzing the data individually.

"You can lift your hands, open your eyes, and understand what the doctor is saying. You should be fine. You're lucky." A white-haired young man of the same age approaches from behind the doctor glances at Suzuki, and then says to another companion. "I told you, Suzuki-kun has always been safe and sound. He will get through this just fine."

"It's still better to be careful. Dr. Romani, how is Suzuki-kun's condition?" A slightly older young man with long golden hair walks up to Suzuki's bedside and asks for concern. "He seems to have some discomfort in his head."

The orange-haired man is a doctor from the Chaldea organization. Suzuki recalled the doctor's name. In Chaldea, everyone affectionately calls him Dr. Romani. During training, whenever there is an injury or fatigue, they would seek temporary medical treatment from this relatively easy-going doctor.

Suzuki feels familiar with these three individuals, but if he were asked to immediately state their full names, he would need to think for a while. Dr. Romani is relatively familiar, but he has difficulty recalling the other two.

"Suzuki-kun's recovery is better than I expected, but it will take some time for rehabilitation. After an examination of his head, no damage was observed. It may be symptoms from sleeping for three days, and resting for a while will alleviate it." Dr. Romani informed the other two individuals of his conclusion after completing the examination and began filling out the recording form.

After listening to the doctor's response, the golden-haired young man places a book he was carrying on Suzuki's bedside table, saying, "This is the book you asked me to find. It's a 1928 reprint of 'The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.'" The book is preserved in parchment paper and, at a glance, has already turned completely yellow.

"I just wanted an ordinary one."

Suzuki does not recall when he asks the person for it, but he responds naturally. He then immediately remembers memories of his interactions with the person. The most recent encounter was a chance meeting in the reference room, where Suzuki mentioned needing a copy of "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes."

"What? Are you saying this book does not even meet the standard of 'ordinary'? It's not easy to get a hold of the first edition magazines." The golden-haired young man deliberately acts as clueless. He then bursts into laughter, satisfied with Suzuki's surprised expression. "Since it's your first time asking me, I definitely won't give you something ordinary. Once you've recovered from your injury, there are many tasks we need to accomplish together."

"Kadoc," the golden-haired young man calls out to his companion, who has been absent-minded since the doctor's examination began. "I have something I must do. Take care of Suzuki-kun for the next few days. If you can learn half of Suzuki-kun's thirst for knowledge, your performance can improve even further."

Until the golden-haired young man leaves, the atmosphere in Suzuki's dorm room finally relaxes. The exceptionally outstanding Master Candidate naturally exudes a regal aura, constantly putting pressure on those around him, even when he's joking.

"The Captain is even less suited for jokes than I am." The white-haired young man named Kadoc, also a Master Candidate, takes to heart what the other person said before leaving. "Life isn't just about studying and combat."

Suzuki gradually recalls things related to them, but in his memory, he does not have much connection with these two individuals. Kadoc, with his dead fish eyes and absent-minded demeanor, requests Dr. Romani's care for Suzuki and then leaves the room. He does not seem interested in interacting with Suzuki much, as he was forcibly brought here by the golden-haired young man Kirschtaria Wodime.

"I believe that being studious and serious are both good qualities."

Dr. Romani was not good at dealing with these two individuals with completely different personalities. He prefers eating cakes, playing games, and relaxing activities. He always smiles on his face and is infectious to those around him. With only the doctor remaining, Suzuki's nervous expression also became more relaxed.

"Are you 16 years old, Suzuki-kun? You seem more mature than your age recorded in the documents."

"Just call me Yuki."

Dr. Romani flips over the previously written report and starts filling out the next report. The previous report mainly recorded physical condition, while the latter recorded mental health. "Okay, Yuki. Did you feel comfortable sleeping before you woke up?"

"It was alright."

"Just alright? Did you dream of something? If you have any confusion, you can tell me. After all, you are the only successful candidates for Spiritron Transfer in the Chaldea organization. The impact of Spiritron Transfer on the human body is greater than expected."

"..." Suzuki Tomoyuki doesn't answer. He starts to let his mind wander, recalling scenes from his dreams.

Dr. Romani waits for a few minutes and asks again as Suzuki seems half-asleep.

"..." Suzuki still doesn't answer. He is immersed in remembering the dream-like battle, where he arrived alone in a destroyed city and fought alongside the remaining Servants and Masters. It seems that in the end, he fell amidst a great fire, and someone gifted him seven chess pieces and told him to...

"Yuki, Yuki! Snap out of it!" Dr. Romani shakes his hand in front of Suzuki, calling out five times in a row before Suzuki comes back to his senses. "What happened to you? Are you feeling unwell?"
