I can’t believe they did that

Irene's anger simmered beneath the surface as she sat by the campfire, her eyes fixed on the dancing flames. The night was supposed to bring a semblance of peace, but the confrontation with her parents had left her more unsettled than ever. The tension in the air was palpable, and the silence was heavy with unspoken words.

"Hey, want to take a walk?" Lily's voice broke through Irene's thoughts, a gentle invitation to escape the oppressive atmosphere.

Irene nodded, grateful for the chance to clear her head. They walked away from the campfire, the darkness swallowing them as they ventured deeper into the woods. The only sound was the crunch of leaves underfoot and the distant hoot of an owl.

"I can't believe they did that," Irene muttered, her voice trembling with a mix of anger and hurt. "They think they can just decide who I should be with, as if I'm some pawn in their game."
