Lyana closed her eyes and took a deep breath, trying to keep calm amidst the growing tension. "You forgot...?" She repeated slowly, as if the words were poison on her lips. "You forgot to tell me that we're walking straight into the den of a race that wants to see our heads on stakes?!"

"Well, it's not like they're that literal about it..." Evelyn began, but her voice faltered when she noticed the vampires' icy glares intensifying.

"Literal or not, they're going to try to kill us!" Lyana growled, drawing her sword in a fluid motion. The metallic sound echoed like a warning.

"Stay behind me, princess," Lyana ordered, instinctively moving to block Evelyn with her own body. "And please, don't try to fix this with words. This isn't the kind of problem a smile can solve."
