After requesting what he was sure was their mission objective, Randy expected the five to start their fierce but pointless offensive, but instead, they remained put and the female continued talking.
"Are you our enemy"
The question had Randy raising an eyebrow, but he never the less answered it.
"Perhaps."
"You have no idea what the object in my bag is do you, you just know it's precious."
"Yes"
"Well, in that case, how about you follow us back to our place and we explain to you what it is and how to use it." The female said.
"Does my childish appearance carry with it any tag that says I'm stupid," Randy asked with a frown.
"No of course not, I'm just trying to be helpful" the woman gently argued.
"Is that so" Randy muttered and then the next second the ground beneath which he stood exploded, shattering into bits, his figure no longer where it had previously been but now standing in front of a headless corpse and being surrounded by completely obliterated bodies.
"Perhaps I should have done this sooner" Randy thought as he took the black bag off the back of the woman and let her dead body fall to the ground.
Melisa had described the red zone as a rather scary place which poised a very powerful entity so when with his sixth sense Randy had decided to try to sweep the entire zone, but who would have known that he would find a group of people running out of it while carrying an object with as rather weird but attractive energy, something which the bored boy could not resist the chance to investigate.
Leaving Melisa and Baz behind, Randy had followed after the team and after getting a sense of their movements, he had gone past them and then decided to wait for them in the valley where they would be boxed in and unable to pull mysterious and troublesome evasive manoeuvres.
After finally appearing before them, Randy had opted to be cautious and observe them a bit more for fear of some surprise rune popping up and putting him in serious trouble.
Though he had always planned to kill them, the female leader's ridiculous words to Randy had made him decide to end them in such a brutal manner and now as he held the black bag in his hand, he with curiosity cautiously opened it.
"Welp, talk about a golden egg" Randy muttered as he opened the bag and took out what seemed to be a giant egg covered in golden scales from it.
"Weird, is this a creature's egg or something else" Randy wondered as he felt the humongous amount of energy buried in it.
Holding the egg in both his hands, Randy stretched his senses deep into it but other than energy felt nothing.
After thinking for a while, the brilliant idea to try injecting his energy into the egg crossed Randy's mind, but just before the boy could excitedly do this, a roar that sent the ground shaking and the wind blasting about rang out and for some reason, Randy could feel some powerful and dangerous presence was rapidly approaching him.
With haste, Randy unleashed his sixth sense and with a scrunched face pushed his sensory abilities to the max and within seconds, the landscape for miles around Randy became registered in his mind.
"The roar is coming from the red zone and I can feel that whatever is coming is not a physical presence."
This thought perplexed Randy for a second but then with haste, the boy put the egg back in the bag and immediately he closed it the rapidly approaching presence drastically slowed down its movement.
Pushing his mind and focusing his sixth sense on the red zone, Randy's sensory range expanded by close to two more kilometres and the boy could only blink when picked up on the existence of a consciousness which had no body but was moving in his direction.
"Is it tracking the egg" Randy wondered and then with a step he went speeding in the opposite direction of the consciousness.
Considering the strength behind a roar and the inherent strength of the consciousness Randy had picked up on, he didn't have to be a genius to guess who the roar was coming from and though Tion's blood asked for him to turn and confront this mysterious entity, the boy got a firm hold on himself and decide to first be patient.
"All in due time Randy, soon you can be the menace you wish to be."
.....
Back with Melisa and Baz, after Randy had ditched them to go follow whatever irrational thought or idea had popped into his mind, the duo had done as Randy had said and gone to the nearby saint-level city, Marlop city being the saint-level city that overlooked the red zone in the area.
One would think that with the city being close to a red zone, a place which housed a creature of immense power and perhaps bestiary desires, it would be a place avoided by all civilians and filled with only soldiers but such a thinking would be wrong.
All saint-level cities and not just Marlop city were the most populated cities in the world second only to their nation's capital.
While it was true that the areas around saint-level cities, especially those between the red zone and the city were extremely dangerous, areas away from the city to other locations were well defended and patrolled.
While the cities themself had the most powerful of barriers to protect them, there was also an actual saint acting as a defender of the village, and most importantly, the thing that made saint-level cities a hub of human beings were the plentiful resources they contained.
While it was true that the red zone had a deadly creature of immense power in it, a red zone also contained doors which led to several closed dimensions and the origin world of the red beasts.
These different worlds and dimensions contained a lot of valuable resources and when mages risk their lives and enter these places and bring out the resources, they bring it back to the city where it is then sold or traded.
At the moment after a bit of effort, Melisa and Baz had rented three adjacent rooms in a small motel and were now currently in its bar having a meal.
