After the ship was built it was tested, together with other ships. Most ships usually pick the wind at a slow rate for it to start sailing in the sea. But for the Santa Maria, it picks up the wind at a fast rate and starts to sail smoothly. Around 5 minutes later, you're already 20 Km away from the island.
