SKYLAR
There she was, the prettiest thing I had ever seen. Every sound faded as I locked eyes with her. The smile I knew was mine grew wide as she stood, frozen like a memory in time. With careful steps, I descended the stage ,heading in her direction. My sight was deceiving me, wasn't it ?. Tears filled her eyes as I matched her gaze. They fell. She was real.
" Eileen ?" I needed to be sure it was her. She sniffed and opened her arms as tears fell in torrents, inviting me. And like an excited kid , I rushed to her , steps heavy as I fell in her arms.
Disbelief washed away as I felt her touch. She was alive and breathing . It was not a dream. Her smile was divine. She couldn't breathe, she whispered. I let go when I realized I'd been hugging too tight. Still in shock, I touched her cheeks, tracing it . She held on to my wrist like it was life itself. Our eyes locked and she smiled sadly.
" I'm sorry " she apologized.
" Hey, hey, what's it for?" I asked.
