Chapter 87: The King's Defiance

The Title of a Lord

It wasn't a preposterous claim by any means.

"They are still frantically looking for you, the legends of Niflheimr. They even know that you've fallen here," the young lady stated.

Consider it. Could any legend on the planet persistently search every aspect for centuries because their lord vanished? Could you do that? Could the legends from other lounges do that?

The pixie placed two hands on her midriff and shook her head.

It meant no.

"Your approach to playing is extremely unique. At the same time, it's experienced. I never considered it. I never expected to encounter a professional who doesn't use fusion," she continued.

"I didn't completely swear off using fusion. If it was necessary, I did it.

However, as the young lady said, if I were a different professional, the facts would show that I would use fusion more to work the lounge, probably mixing several times each day. Looking back to before I was called, the last fusion would have been three months ago."

"The same goes for other tasks. Before you became known, almost every one of the bosses in Shot in the Arm treated the legends like toys. They played with them until they got bored and then disposed of them like consumables," the young lady spoke with a certain tone.

"Did you have any idea that the legends were actually people? Or did you just think that it won't be impossible? I feel like you knew. That's my conclusion," she continued.

"I had thought it was an extraordinary game.

The legends inside were realistic to such an extent that it was hard to believe they were game characters made by developers. Each one reacted differently and had different ways of doing things by their orders.

But, it wasn't that I believed they were real people.

It was simply more efficient.

Standard bosses control the legends through fusion.

If there were rebellious or useless ones, they would discard them brutally and work the lounge with fear instilled in the others. Even if there were lower-level legends who showed potential, they would end up as fodder for higher-level legends.

I was different.

I never got a naturally born 5-star legend. I only had one 4-star legend.

People encouraged me to give up, saying it was a failed account.

But, I didn't give up.

I was accustomed to humor. So, I just sought a way forward, and likewise, my perspective changed. I wanted to manage the lounge with 3-star and lower legends and execute all the strategies.

Even if their position was low, I wouldn't discard them if they showed potential.

At first, they might seem like useless legends, but they could change later on.

If the lounge was operated solely through fear, it would inevitably crumble.

After studying, I found that in Shot in the Arm, there were multiple methods of controlling the legends depending on the gameplay. I analyzed and grasped them to use them appropriately when needed.

Proof of worth brings rewards.

For uselessness and laziness, punishment.

If there were those who went beyond useless and became a hindrance, I used them as disposable pawns.

The second party that I dispatched as the vanguard for the Approach Prison was the result of this. Those guys had a tendency not to be suitable for long-term use, harming nearby legends.

I didn't use fusion unless it was absolutely necessary.

That's how Niflheimr was designed.

Among the first party, known as the strongest across all servers, there were five members.

And among them, there were legends who had started from the 1-star grade.

Since I didn't use fusion, it naturally led to an increase in the lounge population.

Thus, Niflheimr grew to a size like an empire.

However, there's nothing more foolish than misunderstanding the results of my analysis of game efficiency as knowing the truth.

Anyway, you really do like me too?"

"Yes. I really wanted to talk with you. It's a shame that it couldn't happen on The planet."

"I feel the same way. If we had met on The planet, I would have cleared you out immediately."

The young lady squinted her eyes.

I sneered and spoke.

"You bought my hatred. Among other things, I'll probably never forget that. I have nothing in that attitude for you but scorn."

"Is that so?"

"Whether it's Townia or Niflheimr, I don't care about either of them. I'm a human from Earth. Don't force what is going on others."

"Hehe, you don't care, huh? Niflheimr's legends will be disappointed if they hear you say that."

"Let them be disappointed as much as they want."

I couldn't understand this girl's intentions.

"If you truly believed me to help them climb the tower, you didn't have to bring me here. The Niflheimr's party was progressing diligently through the strategies. They had already reached the 88th floor, surpassing the 85th floor, and 90th floor—The Satanic Wall where the first position was staying—was right before them.

Yet, in the midst of all that, she brought me here.

And she invaded the tenth floor and, unexpectedly, brought me here to talk to me about futile things. With such limited information, I couldn't make any predictions.

However, there was one thing I could tell, that this girl didn't care in the slightest bit about others if it was for her own benefit.

That's what if I remember, I can make a sound judgment.

"I won't cooperate with you or any such thing. Actually, you should be gone right now before my patience reaches its limit.

But, you could become a legend who saves Mobius."

The girl laughed.

"Indeed, it doesn't matter. There's only one thing I need from you. To safely climb the tower to where I am. If you can do that, I can endure any level of insult."

"Was it you who caused the dark clerics to appear on the tenth floor?"

"And if it was?"

I ground my teeth.

"Don't become too upset. I won't intervene from the fifteenth floor onward. Townia will give you a fully exhilarating welcome even without my intervention. It's a S-class difficulty just like Niflheim."

"Regardless of how well you do, I gauge the likelihood of the expert collapsing to be no less than 90%. Indeed, it may be different if I'm helping you."

The girl stood up from her seat.

The black leather chair quickly turned into debris and vanished.

"I swear on this one thing. If you achieve the feat of climbing the tower to the end, I'll send you back to where you were originally. And one more thing, I'll transfer half of my stake in Mobius to you. You'll become a major shareholder of a global conglomerate, vying for control in the world."

A major shareholder of Mobius.

I don't believe it.

"The obligation of sending me back, the reward.

As I climb the tower, more information I didn't know will be revealed.

I will return on my own strength. I won't rely on such trash.

But, is the agreement laid out?"

The girl asked with a priggish expression.

"As long as you don't appear before me."

"You really seem to dislike me. Why?"

"Why did you bother to ask?"

"Well."

I took out the second

knife and flung it at the girl's forehead.

The knife pierced through her skull, deeply embedded in its hilt.

"This is my response."

"Hehehe."
