Chapter ten

Andreas did a proper tour of his house, showing Rebecca the kitchen, the bathrooms, the guest rooms and the training room.

His house was very big, it was set on two floors, he clearly used that as a personal space to train and to train other people.

"This house is huge,"

she said, noticing he even had a side of his house dedicated to guests only, she guessed that was why Margareth suggested her to stay at his place until her room at the residence was ready.

"I've been working on it for almost two years now. I have a few things to add and change but yes, I'm very proud of how it turned out."

He walked to a opened room in the guest area, "you can sleep here, it's the nearest guest room to my room so that if you need someothing you can call me."

"Thank you."

She offered hiim a nice smile, maybe she mistakenlu judged him negatively, he was a good man afterall.

When she was left alone, Rebecca unpacked her things and wore her pajamas. She enlifhtened a candle on the bedtable and then turned the light off.

As she laid on the bed she felt a shivers of excitement, euphoria and curiosity ran through her body.

As soon as She was brought there, She was scared, and opposed to stay there. In a Place She didn't know, with people Who didn't seem very sympsthetic. But then, when She Heard about her mother and She used her Powers She grew more inquisitive to learning more about magic.

She surely was scared, deathly scared, but She knew deeplt down, that was her way.

Talking to her adoptive parents had helpee her find her positive, they promised her they would support her no matter what. Even if She told them She Will look for her real mother. They still told her they Will be there for her.

However, although Rebecca wanted to ask them how they knew about her true nature but never said a Word She refused to do so. She didn't want to talk about those matters through calls.

She even called her boyfriend, She told him that She had to do a very imminent task with her family and had to leave the city for a while.

As She thought of her long tiring yet exciting day She had, tiredness kicked in and She quickly fell into the arms of Morpheus.

The next day training had started very soon in the morning.

After a satisfying breakfast they headed to Xilentia and began training.

Waiting for them there was Margaret. "Hi Becca, I hope you don't mind me watching you."

"It's fine." Roselyn replied.

"Whenever you are ready, press this button." Andreas showed a tissue box, which opened mechanically, revealing a black circular button.

Roselyn took a long breath, she was conscious of the difficulty of that test since she hardly managed to survive the last ones.

She pressed the button, squeezing her eyes, like if that gesture would protect her from some danger.

The sky turned an intense grey as the fog began growing from the ground. The strong wind was pushing her energetically, making her fall several times. She clung to a rock implanted on the ground.

"What should I do?" She shouted, but not a single soul was there to help her. Even Andreas and Margaret disappeared in the fog.

Rock fragments were blown off by the wind, she tried to shun them, pressing her head down the ground.

She remained in that uncomfortable position until the wind passed then she slowly tried to get up.

As the wind becames calmer, clouds cast away giving the sky a lighter color.

Two people appeared in front of her, while she was rubbing her eyes to wash the dust off.

As soon as her vision became clear, she recognized them.

They were her real mother, standing on the right, and her adoptive mother, on the left side.

She was taken aback in shock, she couldn't believe her real mother was there, she hasn't seen her in ages. She was also immensely happy to see her adoptive mother. She wanted to reassure her that she was fine, that she didn't need to worry about anything.

Roselyn took two steps ahead running.

As the ground beneath their feet trembled, her adoptive mother stood paralyzed, watching in horror. While, on the opposite side her real mother joint astonished and moved. Her eyes filled with joy and tears. She took a long step forward, ready to finally run to hug her daughter.

When suddently, at her movement, an immense crack sliced through the earth, tearing the once solid ground into two jagged halves. They teetered precariously at the edge, their eyes wide with terror. On one side, her addotive mother clung to a frail branch jutting out from the edge, her knuckles white as she struggled to maintain her grip. Her breaths came in short, panicked gasps, and her voice was a mere whisper as she called out Rebecca's name, pleading for help. Across the divide, her real mother stood frozen, her arms outstretched in a futile attempt to balance. The ground beneath her crumbled away piece by piece, and with each second, her chances of survival dwindled. Her eyes met Becca's, filled with an unspoken plea, a silent acceptance of the grim reality that faced them.

On one side, the good -her adoptive mother- on the other side, the evil.

On one side the past, on the other side the future.

Enchantress' heart pounded against his ribcage, each beat a deafening reminder of the impossible choice that lay before him. Time seemed to slow as he glanced from her family, the weight of their lives heavy on her shoulders. In that moment, the world reduced to the space between life and death, a decision that no one should ever have to make.
