Chapter 126

Churaka was swinging his mace desperately in an attempt to strike Chachamaru who was just too agile for him. Little did he know Douma had already snuck into the back of the room where his precious treasure laid, including the meteorite.

Smirking, the feline clawed at Churaka's fingers when the giant tried to grab him leaving painful scars on his tough skin.

"That does it!" Churaka raised his voice at Chachamaru who stopped in his tracks when the giant wasn't provoking him with the mace anymore.

Oddly enough, Churaka lowered his mace and raised his giant foot instead. Chachamaru guessed Churaka had given up and decided to end things here by stepping on him.

It was questionable on Churaka's part however, Chachamaru wasn't safe either. Even if Churaka doesn't end up stepping on him, the weight is enough to send the floor crumbling down.

To make matters worse, there was hardly any space to avoid all that. Chachamaru had to stop Churaka.

"Goodbye kitty cat." Churaka sneered, slowly putting his foot down where Chachamaru was standing.

Chachamaru's eyes narrowed into carnivorous slits as he unsheathed his claws and grit his teeth when the giant's foot was closing in on him. With a growl, Chachamaru sprang up from the floor and slashed the base of Churaka's foot.

Letting out an agonizing scream, Churaka fell back and rubbed his foot that was becoming numb and unbearably painful. The feline's claw had dug really deep into his flesh, exposing it to the cold air in the atmosphere.

"Oh you'll pay for that..." Churaka threatened him.

"And what if I don't?" Chachamaru retorted, watching the giant get up to his feet.

Grabbing his mace, Churaka yelled and stomped towards the feline. Determined to put an end to this battle and the peace he embraced in this ancient temple for so long, until these two visitors came here to take his treasure. That was not happening, the treasure belonged to him! Anybody who dares take it away from him is nothing but a nuisance who doesn't understand his dedication to protecting its value! Churaka will not agree to any terms if it means giving away his property!

Chachamaru dodged the burning gas erupting from the surface of the ground that Churaka summoned again. They were getting in the way. Chachamaru had to divert his path whenever they appeared in front of him. If these burning gases didn't pop up in random places like a game of Whack A Mole, he'd be able to throw a punch at the weakened Churaka.

While Chachamaru and Churaka were still fighting, Douma looked around the small section of the room and saw a large rock hidden under the pool of gold scattered on the floor. His eyes perked up when he realized what it was and flew towards it.

Quietly, Douma pushed the gold coins, necklaces, and sashes aside, revealing the dark grey and purple surface of the meteorite. He picked it up and smiled, glad that the team finally got what they were looking for after all the hard work and dedication to this mystery. The case has finally been solved.

"Mission Accomplished." Douma saw the cracks that formed on the meteorite, indicating that it must have broken down after many years. The blonde could tell the meteorite had a purple exterior, there was a glow from within the cracks and the same poisonous fumes the team smelled back at the spot where it landed was still very much present. It wasn't lethal but inhaling it would probably result in numbness or a slight skin problem. The team had to be careful when handling the meteorite.

Furthermore, Douma was the only one who could carry it single-handedly, this meteorite wasn't the biggest out there but it was still way bigger than a boulder. Now both he and Chachamaru just had to make a quick escape from here.

With another claw swipe, Chachamaru moved away from Churaka, his back hitting the wall.

"Not good." The feline said to himself. Churaka could see the worry in his eyes. Grinning, the giant stomped closer getting ready to slam Chachamaru with his giant mace.

"It's over. You're not going anywhere now." Churaka said, lifting up his mace until it was practically above his head. At least the lights weren't so dim so Chachamaru could get a better look at the mace that would come crashing down any minute.

"Oh I don't think so." Chachamaru confidently replied with a smug smile, glancing at the corner of the ceiling on his left.

Churaka raised an eyebrow looking confused. He didn't understand the feline's bold response, he was supposed to be terrified.

The giant turned around in the direction the feline was looking at and screamed.

"Ahhhhh! A spider! What's a spider doing here?!" Churaka cried, stepping away from Chachamaru and pointing at the bug on the wall in fear. "I'm scared of spiders! Get it away!"

Chachamaru laughed at the giant who was trying to cower away from the spider but there was nowhere to hide, his lair was an open space. Not even his throne could protect him.

"Gotcha! That little guy is my friend!" The feline added, he couldn't control his laughter anymore this was hilarious to watch from where he was standing.

"Why are your friends so terrifying?!" Churaka shrieked, still looking at the spider on the wall. "Is it that difficult to make friends with normal people?! Give me a break!"

"Better than not having any friends I guess. Sitting on a throne alone must be so boring." Chachamaru replied, watching Churaka's expression turned from a frightened one to really furious.

The giant was fuming in anger. "This is a battle so cut it out with the tough act!" He growled lifting his mace and slowly swinging it at Chachamaru.

"Oh I guess I got carried away. Take this! Knuckle Bashing Fist!" Chachamaru threw a punch at the bridge of Churaka's nose.

Churaka fell and landed on his back. He scrunched his nose and held it tightly. Wincing from the shape aching feeling that almost gave him a headache from the intensity.

Wiping the sweat on his forehead, Chachamaru smiled lightly and waited for what Churaka was going to do next. The giant got up after laying on the floor for quite a while, regaining the strength to continue the battle.

Douma flew out of the back of the room with the meteorite in his possession. He got two different responses from Chachamaru who smiled proudly and Churaka who was clearly displeased by the fact that Douma took away his treasure.

"HOW DARE YOU!" Churaka yelled, he was so engrossed with the battle between him and Chachamaru that he had completely forgotten about Douma. This was a distraction and one that he couldn't accept even though it was his fault for not paying attention.

Angrily, Churaka stomped towards the wall beside his throne to pull down the lever, but froze when he didn't feel his hand touching the supposed gear.

Panicking, the giant turned around and saw the damaged portion on the wall. The lever had been broken off.

"Looking for something?"

That subtle voice, Churaka dreaded hearing it. He glanced at Douma who was holding the lever while hovering in the air beside his throne, trying to taunt him.

Douma tossed the lever into the air and sliced it into two pieces with his fan.

"Woo-hoo!" Chachamaru cheered.

The spider on the wall hopped from the wall and landed on the feline's shoulder. "Good job buddy." Chachamaru said to his little friend. He could sense the numbness in his nose from the poisonous gas given off by the meteorite. It was irritating but he had to bear with it for now.

Churaka stared at the two pieces that on the floor. He looked at the blonde with fear and distraught in his eyes. Despite his giant towering size, he was really inferior here. Both Douma and Chachamaru didn't take him seriously.

He was about to ponder about the meteorite held in Douma's arms until he remembered that the blonde wasn't human. The key factor that gave Churaka the disadvantage in this battle. He was literally facing a supernatural entity that managed to get a hold of the treasure he protected for years.

Clenching his fist, Churaka got up and yelled in anger. "THAT'S IT! I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS!"

Douma watched the giant pace around the room and then stop in the middle with a stern look on his face. The angel flew towards the area where Chachamaru was and landed beside him, watching Churaka who was glaring at them now.

Ranting about the treasure again, Churaka took a few steps back and raised his fists. "NOW YOU'LL ALL MEET YOUR DEMISE!" The giant began jumping up and down causing the entire ancient temple to shake and collapse that instance.

"What is this idiot doing?" Chachamaru said as both he and Douma began stepping away from the floor that had cracks forming across its surface. A few slabs broke off leaving large holes in the ground that revealed the smoldering flame beneath.

"We have to get out of here! Go!" Douma ran out of the room with Chachamaru quickly following after him. Churaka continued breaking the floor that crumbled into pieces that fell into the fiery pit waiting to be unleashed.

The large flame rose from the surface that had become an opening and struck the ceiling of the room. Churaka sat there, leaning against his throne in exhaustion. The whole ancient temple was definitely going to collapse now.

Turning into rubble in the process, as Douma and Chachamaru sprinted down the hallways, passing by large boulders, fallen statues, and ruptures of soil that were getting in the way of their escape. Douma warned Chachamaru not to look back because it will only slow him down.

Running down the halls that appeared every so often made the escape feel like it was taking forever when in actuality they were getting closer to the exit that was right around the corner.
