The Lost Prey Has Returned

Meanwhile, Viper's men continue to wander around looking for Adam. They walked along the river and asked the people around the river about the child who had been swept away, but there was no information regarding this. Indeed, at the time of Adam's rescue, none of the neighbors knew because it was still very early in the morning and there was rarely anyone there. Viper even promised to reward a car if anyone could find Adam dead or alive. Viper was very obsessed because it had been almost ten years since he had met anyone with such special powers. Finally, he almost died when he faced someone with the power to turn his skin as hard as stone. The poison couldn't penetrate his opponent's tough skin, so he was left battered with several broken bones. Luckily, the opponent accidentally slipped his feet and then fell from the third floor. Seeing that, Viper ran as fast as possible to save his life. What a joke, but it happened.

That morning, Adam got ready to start rearranging his room. However, he remembered his belongings, which were left inside the tent he built under the overpass. There are several important items there, including a dark purple crystal stone left by his parents. He left the room, intending to ask permission to leave to get his goods. However, when he left the room, he found no one there. Most likely, Eva has gone to school, and her parents have gone to work.

Eva's house is not that big. On the second floor, there are two bedrooms, a storage room that Adam lives in, a bathroom and toilet, a washing and drying area, and an upper terrace for relaxing in the afternoon or evening. On the ground floor, there is a living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, toilet, garage, and lower terrace with a mini garden for relaxing when there are guests. This two-story house is painted ivory white with a simple black iron fence and has a minimalist impression. The neat arrangement makes anyone feel comfortable there. The three residents are people who don't like mess. This discipline has been instilled in Eva since childhood so that no part of the house is messy and everything is neatly arranged. Adam felt amazed by Eva's family.

After exploring the house and not finding anyone else, he decided to write a short memo on a piece of paper, left it on his bedroom table, and went out through the front window because the front door was locked. After jumping over the iron fence, he walked towards the river near Eva's house and started following the river to trace where he had left his belongings. He tried to remember the route so he wouldn't stray when he went back home.

After walking all day, he finally arrived at his destination. Slowly, he settled in while keeping an eye on his surroundings. Once he felt safe, he started to approach the tent he had made at that time. The tent is still standing intact. Slowly, he opened the tent and found it empty; there was nothing there.

"Are you looking for something?" Suddenly, a voice came from behind Adam.

Adam reflexively looked back and saw that dozens of thugs had surrounded him, including Viper, the gang leader. It turned out that this was a trap they had prepared. It was late afternoon towards evening. Viper looked as excited as a child given a new toy.

"You can take this item of yours if you can beat me. Or at least it's enough to make me happy and not die, hahahahaaa," said the viper as he threw the two backpacks and stepped on them with his right foot.

"But boss, are you sure you want to let him go if he can beat the boss alone?" suddenly one of his men asked Viper.

"Bastard! You dare doubt my strength? Do you want to die?" Viper was furious when he heard his own men doubting his power.

"Sorry, boss, that's not what I meant... I'm sorry, boss." The subordinate trembled with fear. He remembered how miserable the thug was that he killed yesterday. He does not want to have the same fate as him.

"Okay, I will comply with your wishes, but I have some conditions." Adam started to speak. He knew he couldn't escape this time. He still tried to stay calm and think clearly.

"Do you think you are in a position to negotiate?" Viper replied curtly.

"You know... for an honorable person like you, this kind of match is certainly no joke because it concerns your reputation. I'm sure you also have chivalrous qualities. I just want a fair and sporty match without cheating and one-on-one. And because I'm currently injured and hungry, it's not fair for me. How about we postpone the match until tomorrow morning?" Adam tries to negotiate, even though he is unsure.

But the viper felt flattered by the words 'honorable, so he softened a little. "What if you run away and don't keep your promise?" Viper tries to make sure Adam doesn't run away like before.

"If you are in doubt, send 2 or 3 of your best men to guard me until tomorrow morning. Make sure they don't make anyone suspicious or impersonate my co-worker. How about that?"

Viper also thought it was a good idea. "Okay! That seems like a good idea. The three of you do your job!"

Three thugs that Viper has chosen take Adam to a black car to deliver Adam to his home. Adam asked them to drive along the road by the river.

Meanwhile, at Eva's house, everyone is confused about where to look for Adam because he didn't mention his location in the memo. Adam just said he wanted to pick up the things he left behind. They can only wait. If Adam doesn't return by tomorrow morning, they will take the initiative to report it to the police. They hope everything is fine.
