The Apocalypse is in full swing.
Defiled - powerful creatures corrupted by the Great Collision - prowled the lands in search of prey. Unfortunately for them, the human race had long since retreated behind the secure walls of the Sanctuary of Everlast.
During one of his regular excursions outside the Sanctuary, Alden is separated from Celeste. - his childhood friend and crush. In that moment, he came to regret never summoning the courage to confess.
Somehow managing to survive thanks to some trickery, Alden awakens as a mage.
Instead of receiving a normal power, he gains the ability to decay. What's more, during his ascension, he received a vision from his future self advising him not to trust the Asterons - celestial beings who had saved his race from inescapable doom.
Normally... such a revelation wouldn’t faze Alden.
However, there was only one major problem with the declaration, though.
Celeste was bound with an Asteron.
And not just any normal Asteron...
She had made a pact with one of the Divine Sovereigns.

Eleven chapters in, and a promising start from this author! The MC is intriguing, the plot compelling, and the world background promises a lot of room for expansion on the ideas already here. MC’s trajectory is something I’m particularly interested in, as his power is not something I anticipated. I look forward to seeing how it’s used to move the story and shape the other characters’ perception of him. The author makes detailed use of imagery to paint a vivid picture of what’s happening, drawing you into the scenes with emotional depth. Rest assured I will be in comments demanding more!
Interesting world-building and intriguing characters, each of them well thought up and carefully positioned to carry the story on. The MC's personality is fleshed out clearly and the pacing is impeccable. Nothing short of astonishing. A promising story and a very good read indeed. Thanks for your hard work author!
This author’s work keeps improving! This is the third story I have read by him and I can say this is the best one yet 🎉 Alden is a compelling character who works to defy the odds stacked against him. He is smart and compassionate toward those he loves, a winning combination! I cannot wait to see where this story goes. Well done!

I started reading the book as a joke, but I stayed because I loved it! The plot is getting more and more interesting with every chapter and I look forward to see what our dear author has in store for the MC. It looks promising and I can’t wait to see the characters’ development in the future. ⭐️
I came here with little to no expectation but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not a master reviewer so I won't go too much into the details but here's my thoughts regarding the novel. I will update this review after I read some more chapters. 1. World building. Nothing groundbreaking as of yet but a good amount of care and effort was put into it. It works and that's what matters. 2. Characters. The characters are pretty fleshed out for your average webnovel imo, ofc there aren't many chapters yet and I haven't fully read all available chapters(I have read 36 ch as of now) but I expect to grow attached to the characters as the novel goes. The foundation is there. 3. Plot. Again, too early to properly judge but there are pieces planted by the author. I'm curious to see where it is headed. 4 Writing. The writing is heavily reminiscent of shadow slave imo, not that there's anything bad with being similar to shadow slave. I have read lotm and ss, and my expectations towards novels increased as a result but the fact that I was able to read this novel comfortably shows the writing quality is quite good. If I had to name a small nitpick tho, it's that the writing style sometimes feels too similar to shadow slave. It kind of feels repetitive sometimes, but the author would probably grow and develop his own style as the novel progresses, looking forward to that. All in all, a good novel to read. Recommended.
The story seems good so far, the world building is good and the mc is also not an idiot like in most of the apocalypse novels i have seen. Tho i would like to see more of mc using his powers
It has the potential to be a interesting story to read! It has a clever MC and a interesting backstory and it seems that the concept of good and evil isn't hard defined, meaning it depends of the winner side of story. Give it a try if you enjoy this kind of story!
1 word. Potential. Alden is a clever and cautious MC in this grim forsaken place. Trust me when i said "He is him!" And the naration is top notch. Beautiful. 👌👌👌 I just know it has big potential waiting to be discovered. Don't sleep on this story, you may missed something great. And he got fire pigeon too. 👀👀👀
If you're seeking a bold and exhilarating twist on the mundane, this novel is your game-changer. Dive in—you won't just avoid regret; you'll wonder how you ever lived without it!
Nothing less than 5 stars for you. Right from the start, you know that the MC is quite smart. He is not afraid to take risks and I think that's one of the things that makes us read. We already know it won't be boring. This is the book to read.
