*Eris’ POV*
Messene rushed to me as I half-collapsed to the floor. I placed a hand to the wound and winced as she righted me with gentle hands.
"Is everything okay?" She asked as she tucked a strand of brown hair behind my ear.
I nodded. "Yes, everything is fine."
"Is it?" Kyros retorted as he stepped away from us and walked around the kitchen. "You come into my home and want for ‘nothing’. You dine on my food and wear clothes I gifted you of the finest materials my money can buy."
"I'm sorry," I said much too quietly.
"You enjoy my hospitality and even my bed, yet stand there and sling accusations at my door like pig shit." He grabbed a plate from the table and shattered it against the wall, sending everyone slithering away to the shadows so that they might not have to bear any brunt of his wrath. And I did not fault them.
I didn't even fault Messene as she flinched and stepped away from me.
"Kyros, I didn't know," I said a bit louder.
