*Eris’ POV*
Atlas slowly inched closer as I sobbed, unable to turn it off. Soon, he was right next to me with his hand rubbing my back. I leaned into him and allowed him to comfort me, relishing in his calm presence.
"Thank you," I said a little hoarsely.
He hugged me gently. "What for?"
Nuzzling into him felt natural as I did it. "For being here with me."
"Where else would I be?"
I couldn't help but laugh. It hurt, but it felt better than crying. "Literally, anywhere else."
Atlas peppered my hairline with small kisses. "Nonsense. Are you feeling any better?" He leaned away and forced me to look up at him with a hand under my chin.
I nodded. "I'm feeling better than when they threw me into a tub of ice water." I made a pouting face and huffed. "That was miserable."
Atlas laughed and pulled me to him, his chin resting atop my head. "I won't let them freeze you again, little one."
