Inside, rows of cryogenic pods lined the walls. And inside them, people.

Alice's breath caught.

"They were left here," Graves said quietly. "Forgotten. The project was deemed a failure, so they erased it. But I found them."

Alice swallowed hard. "And what do you want me to do?"

Graves studied her. "Help me expose them."

She stared at him. "You expect me to trust you?"

His expression darkened. "I expect you to open your eyes."

Silence stretched between them.

Then, the facility trembled. Distant explosions rumbled through the walls.

Graves frowned.

Max. He must have escaped.

Alarms blared.

Graves exhaled. "It seems we're out of time."

He reached into his coat and tossed something onto the table in front of her. A key.

Alice's pulse quickened.

"I hope you make the right choice," Graves said.

Then he turned and disappeared into the shadows.
