Herry wasn't as difficult to communicate with as Emily had imagined.
Emily had braced herself for his insults, but he surprisingly opened up quickly.
"Come with me. Your mom and dad are waiting for you."
Herry pouted, "Are we going back the entrance? That's embarrassing!"
"What do you want to do then? Do you want to keep going? There's a long way ahead, and it's only going to get scarier. Aren't you afraid?"
Herry looked conflicted.
He was definitely scared, but he didn't want to admit it.
But soon enough, Herry stood up and took her hand. "I think you can lead me out."
As Herry held her hand, Emily could feel the sweaty palms of the frightened little boy.
"I can't promise I'll definitely get you out," she said.
But Herry seemed confident in her. "Stop talking, let's go! I don't want to be a coward! People will laugh at me!"
Ring, ring—
Her phone rang.
Emily picked it up. "Hello?"
"Are you continuing onward?" Mr. Satan asked.
