Emily's barrage of questions caught the female student completely off guard.
Daniel’s expression darkened as well. He adjusted his glasses and spoke sternly, "Honesty is a fundamental principle for doing business. Our company doesn't hire dishonest employees."
The female student took a deep breath, her eyes darting around nervously, clearly feeling guilty.
She bit her lip tightly, seemingly trying to come up with an excuse.
But Emily wasn’t in a hurry. She just smiled slightly and continued to watch the girl quietly.
Finally, the student came up with what she thought was a perfect excuse: "My boyfriend paid for all of it. He’s well-off, so everything I bought was with his money."
Daniel leaned in and whispered to Emily, "Ma'am, what do you think…?"
Emily smiled, "Oh, that's right. I almost forgot you have a boyfriend."
"Yes, you even saw him at the cinema that day. My hair, my phone, everything was paid for by him. I really don’t have much money of my own."
