Chapter 27-I'm afraid of you.

Mechelle's POV:

A twitch danced at the corner of my mouth, wanting to say something, but it got stuck in my throat. My smile was shallow yet distant. "Louis, it's late. I should go back and rest."

The crescent moon overhead had disappeared into the clouds, and massive black clouds loomed like cotton balls soaked in ink, as if a storm was about to hit.

Without looking back at Louis standing in place, I headed straight to my room. Before long, heavy rain poured down, thunder rumbling, and a bright white lightning bolt split the entire dark ALEX in half. Raindrops the size of soybeans pelted against the glass windows, making a "pitter-patter" sound. Outside the window was the villa's garden, where the rain washed away the withered yellow leaves, scattering them on the ground.
