Chapter 32-Give me a gun

Mechelle POV

As I reluctantly approached, I realized he was just trying to scare me. After hearing his so-called secret, I became even more certain.

Vincent was a jerk, a thousand times worse than the guy in front of me. In the upcoming gambling game, if Alexander Duncan lost, then I... I couldn't bear to think about it. I had to find a way to escape.

"Do you want to escape?" Alexander Duncan's voice carried a hint of amusement.

"Why would I want to escape? Aren't you confident enough to beat those people?" I said sarcastically, my heart pounding with fear that I struggled to conceal.

"Mechelle, there's no shame in being afraid. If you want to escape, I can work with Lucas to increase our chances of getting away," Alexander Duncan said casually, looking at me as if I were a piece of art. "And besides, if I lose you, I'll have some explaining to do, after all, you're my stepmother, right?"
