Chapter 76- Don't rush to answer

Mechelle's POV

"Alex, do you prefer boys or girls?" I turned to him, smiling.

"Either is fine," Alexander Duncan replied succinctly.

I gently stroked my belly, happiness radiating across my face. Speaking softly to myself, "Little one, Daddy says he'll love you whether you're a boy or a girl. But you must be good! Be strong and make it through..."

Alexander Duncan furrowed his brow imperceptibly, his gaze flickering to my cheeks. A complexity flickered in his eyes before he refocused on driving seriously. After a while, perhaps feeling a hint of guilt, he smiled, "Silly girl, just focus on taking care of yourself! Leave the rest to me. Diana mentioned this morning how tough pregnancy is for women, so I'll take good care of you."

"True, you're the baby's dad after all. Alright then! I'll leave the nursery to you, and I'll handle the inspection," I said, smiling softly.

"Alright," Alexander Duncan agreed.
