"Ouch!" Eugene flashed his teeth, "Lucky I dodged in time, or you would've stolen the peach!"
He firmly restrained Laura, taking a drop of her blood in the process.
"What are you doing?" Laura asked in horror.
"Checking if you're sick!" Eugene chuckled.
"You're the sick one!" Laura retorted.
She struggled fiercely, but in her weakened state, it was more teasing than resisting.
Eugene endured, and after a minute, he checked the results and couldn't help but laugh.
No need to hold back.
The shower was still spraying hot water, but the 'fight' was over.
Laura was pressed against the glass, irritated. "Can't you let go?"
Eugene, however, caressed her smooth skin, commenting, "You're quite strong, and your martial arts moves earlier were impressive—Who are you really?"
Laura's heart sank, "I'm a martial arts enthusiast, is that not allowed?"
"Sure, that's fine," Eugene smirked, his hands encircling her neck, admiring its swan-like elegance, sending shivers down Laura's spine.
"But, I found a dagger in your boot!" Eugene's voice came through.
Laura realized she was in trouble but before she could react, Eugene tightened his grip.
She struggled, trying to kick Eugene, but her vision blurred, and lack of oxygen made her feel miserable.
Just when she thought she was about to die, Eugene suddenly released her.
"What's your real identity?" Eugene's voice seemed distant, cold, and indifferent.
—There's no room for politeness towards someone trying to kill him.
Laura, nearly broken, quickly said, "I'm a professional assassin. I'm here in Kretonia to kill a man named Devon, not you!"
Devon? That name sounded familiar.
Eugene thought for a moment and exclaimed, "Devon is a renowned businessman in Mystic Hills. Rumor has it, he married into money and used his luck to turn his wife's company into a multi-billion-dollar empire."
But who would hire an assassin to kill a successful businessman?
Not his concern!
"She smells good, I might keep her for a while," Eugene said, his eyes showing a hint of murderous intent again.
He just wanted to know if Laura came for him alone and if she had accomplices. Now that he knew, what was he waiting for?
Having an assassin around?
Even if she's untrained, she's dangerous.
Laura, seeing his look, pleaded, "Please don't kill me! I'm a virgin, that was my first time!"
Oh, that explains it.
But does being a virgin spare her life?
Eugene had no compassion for enemies.
So what if she's beautiful?
If she threatened his life, she'd be eliminated without mercy!
He grabbed Laura and pushed her. As she retreated two steps, she suddenly disappeared.
Fell into another dimension.
She's definitely gone.
"Who hires a rookie assassin for domestic killings?" Eugene wondered. This was bound to become a mystery.
After dealing with Laura, he went upstairs.
Suddenly, the phone rang.
Eugene glanced at the number, finding it unfamiliar. After some thought, he answered, "Hello."
"Hello, Eugene. Let me introduce myself first, I'm Devon."
Eugene was taken aback. He now seriously suspected Laura and this Devon were accomplices. How else could one just arrive and the other immediately call?
"Hello, Mr. Eugene, are you there?" Devon asked after noticing Eugene's delayed response.
Eugene chuckled, "Yes, I'm here. Please go ahead."
"I wonder if Mr. Eugene knows about my identity. Let me introduce myself. Have you heard of Devon Real Estate?" Devon queried.
"I do. You're the CEO of Devon Real Estate," Eugene quickly replied to cut Devon's long introduction short.
Devon smiled, "Since you know, let's get to the point. I have a proposal. If you're willing to give up your villa or let us move in, once the disaster is over, I'm willing to hand over half of my shares to you."
Bold move!
That's definitely worth billions.
Unfortunately!
Eugene shook his head, "Devon boss, no need to paint a rosy picture. This disaster... let's not talk about when it will end. Even if it ends soon, how many lives will be lost? Under such circumstances, how much do you think your shares will be worth?"
Even if the disaster ends soon, the real estate industry, which has suffered the most, will collapse, or at least be severely impacted.
Therefore, Devon's shares would be practically worthless.
"Key point is, even if the hail stops and the fog clears, the plants outside are dead. Next comes the horrifying famine. The most scarce and in-demand items will still be food and clean water. Money? Worthless!" Eugene added.
Devon seemed taken aback by Eugene's response and after a pause said, "Alright, let's not talk about money. I heard you like beautiful women. I have one here that might catch your eye. How much food and water will you offer for her?"
Eugene laughed, "Devon boss, weren't you selling houses? When did you turn into a human trafficker?"
His tone had turned unfriendly. Even if he were to do business, he would deal directly, not through middlemen.
Devon fell silent for a moment and then said, "Let me tell you a story. Do you have time to listen, Mr. Eugene?"
Eugene chuckled, "Rare to hear a story from a big shot like Devon boss. Please, go ahead."
Devon began, "I came from humble beginnings but studied hard and got into a prestigious university. I'm not bad-looking either. So, shortly after graduating, I married my wife. However, her family conditions were better than mine, so I became a 'door-knocking' son-in-law—Mr. Eugene should understand our predicament, right?"
Eugene smiled, thinking, You're way better off than me in that aspect.
Devon continued, "But my wife had some health issues, so we couldn't have children. I didn't want my hard-earned business to go to her family, so I found another woman who gave birth to a son for me."
"My wife's family still has significant influence, so I placed the child in this community, visiting only once a month."
"The irony is, during the disaster, it was Children's Day. I had come early to spend a day with my son, and then..."
"I won't talk about the result, I'm trapped here."
Eugene had a sudden realization and wondered why there would be a killer targeting Devon.
"You have an illegitimate child. You would definitely try to hand Devon Real Estate over to the illegitimate child. But would your wife's family agree?"
When it comes to hundreds of billions of assets, what's a killer? Is it strange?
If Devon dies, Devon Real Estate would naturally go to his wife's family. Illegitimate child?
I'd kill the illegitimate child for you!
Wait a minute!
Eugene was stunned, "The photo you showed me earlier, isn't that your mistress?"
Devon admitted directly, "Yes, she's my mistress—however, I'm old enough to be her father. I chose her because she's beautiful enough and a top student from a prestigious university, giving my son the best genes."
"I'm not hiding any of this from you, I just want to tell you that everything I've done is to ensure my son's survival."
"For my son, I can sacrifice anything, even myself... I can risk everything!"
The last sentence was clearly a threat.
Eugene smiled lightly, "Devon boss, are you declaring war on me?"
By the way, you should be thanking me. I just dealt with a killer.
However, a disaster has occurred. Laura probably isn't interested in continuing this mission, right?
Forget it, I didn't kill for you anyway.
Devon pondered for a moment and said with a smile, "Of course, I don't want to go to war with Mr. Eugene, especially considering Mr. Eugene's remarkable recent accomplishments—I still hope Mr. Eugene can accept my proposal. I can offer you my woman, and you just need to provide enough food and water for my son."
Eugene could accept trading women with him, but what's with your condescending attitude, appearing like a benevolent father, when in fact, how are you any different from those who want to take his resources?
"What if I don't agree?" he asked calmly.
"You'd better agree," Devon casually replied, "I've also brought two bodyguards, both former mercenaries. Strength-wise, one person can easily take on four or five average men barehanded, and with weapons, one can handle ten."
"So, Mr. Eugene should best accept my proposal, and everyone will be happy."
Eugene gave a slight smile, "The proposal is interesting, but don't bring it up again, goodbye!"
He hung up the phone directly.
Trading his woman as if she's merchandise made Eugene instinctively disgusted with Devon.
Perhaps Devon is a big shot, but Eugene absolutely doesn't like him.
No way!
