Apart Of Me

I needed clarification on what Kaiserin meant. He knows something I don't.

"And what would that be?'

'I'm not sure, perhaps you should find out,' he retorted, his tone dripping with a hint of mystery.

His evasiveness was expected, yet it only fueled my determination. I wasn't in a hurry to decipher his enigmatic message, but I knew I would press him for answers when the time was right. 'I have all the time in the world,' I thought, 'and he'll tell me when he's ready.'

Even so, with an attitude like that is pissing me off.

I took a deep breath, my eyes locked with his intense gaze. The room was silent, the tension palpable. Finally, I found my voice.

"Tell me later; I have a few more questions."

'Ask away,' he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

"Do you know who Weltenschmerz is?"

Kaiserin appeared calm and unconcerned about his name being mentioned, but he turned his face away while reading the letter in his hands once more before replying.

"Before I answer that, have you ever read "Die Ätherische Symphonie der Transzendenz?" My curiosity is eating me alive."

The apparent sarcasm was there in the last part of that sentence. I thought about it for a moment before replying.

"No, I have not."

For some reason, Kaiserin's face twisted with a mix of disappointment and anger. He stepped closer, his presence overwhelming, and looked down at me, his eyes piercing mine.

"You forgot, didn't you? Unless you are what you say you are."

What was he saying?

"Kaiserin, stop trying to confuse me and just tell me."

"I really want to tell you what's on my mind, but even so if I'm wrong even in the slightest, I might just confuse you more."
