Calling The Higher-Up (2)

But Hendry simply smirked back at him and dialed a number. Caleb couldn't help but smirk as he taunted, "If you're brave enough to put it on speaker, we'll find out who's causing trouble."

Without uttering a word, Hendry activated the speakerphone. As they realized that nobody was answering on the other end, Caleb and Lily exchanged mocking smiles, both sporting smirks.

As they suspected that Hendry was messing around, the call suddenly connected and a voice spoke from the opposite side of the phone. "Hello, Mr. Hendry, this is David."

Without altering his expression, Hendry continued to gaze at Caleb and replied, "David, where's your boss?" "He's busy working, Mr. Hendry. Is there something you'd like me to relay to him, Mr. Hendry?"

"Ask him to take care of the people who come and go in Velvet Bistro." Hendry calmly said. The manager instantly recognized the voice of their boss's personal assistant.

Even though their boss hardly ever came to the country, his assistant would occasionally show up to help with certain tasks and provide them with instructions. That's why he can easily identify the voice.

The manager was well aware that it was all coming to an end. It appeared to be the final day for every employee in this place. Nevertheless, David was puzzled by Hendry's words and inquired, "Is there something wrong, Mr. Hendry?"

Hendry glanced at Lily and replied, "There's someone who needs to speak with the top brass at Hotel Velvet Bistro. That's why I directed them to your boss. Since your boss is occupied, you should be able to handle it, right?"

Caleb was in disbelief that a man who would sell his own sister for money could possibly have connections with someone of such high status. He raised his voice and exclaimed, "You're not in a position to order anyone around as if you know Ethan's assistant."

Lily chimed in, "It would make sense to report you for turning this hotel into a brothel for selling your sister." Their voices carried, catching the attention of David who was on the phone.

David was taken aback by the words that were being said to Mr. Hendry. Hendry's expression turned icy and his tone became firm as he said, "Did you catch that? Now you understand what needs to be done, right?"

"Don't worry, Mr. Hendry. I won't let this slide. You can count on me to handle it promptly. I'll take care of everything." David reassured him before ending the call.

Caleb and Lily burst into laughter as the call abruptly ended, feeling a sense of triumph for being proven right. Little did they know, an unforeseen event was about to unfold in the upcoming minutes.

Before long, another higher-up swiftly descended to the lobby and inquired about the entire situation from the manager.

Witnessing the employees' respectful demeanor towards this individual, Caleb could easily deduce that he held a position of authority within the organization.

So, he glanced at the manager and remarked, "Stop standing around doing nothing and make sure you're doing your job right. If we hadn't caught on in time, your hotel could have turned into a brothel by now."

The manager ignored Caleb and hurried over to Hendry. With a slight bow, he apologized, "I apologize, Mr. Hendry. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience. Your bill will be taken care of by the hotel. Please go ahead and enjoy your breakfast. I'll handle the rest."

Hendry gave a small nod and escorted Zara to his exclusive room with the assistance of a waitress. The rest of the crowd was ushered out by the staff, leaving only Caleb and his companions.

Everyone else grasped the situation, but Caleb was taken aback and Lily remained puzzled.

The superior stepped forward, wearing a serious expression, and declared, "I apologize, sir. However, the Velvet Bistro will no longer be accommodating any of you. Please don't cause any trouble for us."

The superior motioned with his hand, indicating the exit. Lily tried to speak up, but her friends pulled her away. Caleb followed, looking dazed.

After they exited, Lily couldn't hold back anymore and questioned, "What's happening? Why did they kick us out and ban us from coming back in the future?"

Elis shook his head in disbelief. "Don't you get it? Those two aren't who we thought they were. They must have some serious connections."

Lily was still reeling from being kicked out of the hotel. "I can't believe it. How could they just throw us out like that? We are not inferior to them in any way."

Elis was exasperated as he addressed Lily once again. "Lily, I've already told you! This place is completely different from Valoria. There are influential people here, and this hotel is owned by one of them. We can't even consider disrespecting them."

While they were having this conversation, Caleb suddenly lost consciousness. The group acted swiftly and took him to the nearby hospital. They promptly informed his parents about the situation and urgently requested them to come to the hospital.

Inside the private room in Velvet Bistro, Hendry quickly ordered Zara's favorite dish and asked to add some. "Those are enough, brother." Zara said and Hendry handed the menu card to the waitress.

After the waitress left, Hendry looked at Zara and said with a low voice, "I'm sorry, Lia. I made you suffer in the very morning even before having breakfast."

"It's not your fault, brother," Zara reassured her brother, her voice calm and soothing. "Forget about it. Today is all about having fun and being carefree. Don't worry about a thing." Hendry replied with a smile, his gaze fixed on his sister.

"Alright, brother," Zara agreed. Soon, their breakfast was served and they both began to eat.

Since it was still early in the morning and they had plans to explore, Hendry made sure to order light dishes for Zara, ensuring she wouldn't have any trouble while enjoying their day.

After finishing their meal, the siblings decided to head out for some indoor games before going shopping for Zara. Despite Zara's reluctance to leave the house, it's always good to have some extra dresses on hand for unexpected events.

Hendry explained that it was important to have emergency dresses for Zara, which is why he insisted on buying them. Zara didn't object and allowed her brother to make the decision without any complaints.

However, she also considered getting something for her brother since the gifts she purchased were fewer in comparison to what he was buying for her.

Nonetheless, in the ward of Hope Hospital, Caleb was resting with an IV drip. Witnessing their son in such a state, both Mr. and Mrs. Warren were filled with concern and frustration.

After chatting with the doctor, the couple exited the ward and glanced at the cluster of youngsters who were either in their early twenties or in their teenage years. Mrs. Warren inquired of Elis, "What's happened, Elis?"

Elis hesitated to disclose what had occurred, but Mr. Warren angrily demanded, "Spill it!" Elis was so frightened that he spilled all the details from beginning to end.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Warren were aware that their son was playful and enjoyed spending time with girls. However, they were never concerned about it because everyone was intimidated by them.

Upon learning that someone had kicked their son and had him thrown out of the Velvet Bistro, the couple felt a mix of anger and concern.

It was clear that not just anyone could interact with the infamous Ethan, also known as the so-called demon, or his associates.
