Her movements were restless, like a storm brewing inside her. She finally took a seat at the head of the table, and Eros quietly settled on her right, his eyes never leaving her.

She picked up a glass, took a slow sip, then closed her eyes. For a few seconds, she just breathed—inhaling deeply, exhaling as if trying to calm the trembling of her spirit. She was bracing herself.
