"It won't work," the squirrel said immediately. "We need more militant action."

"Can we please just… try it? You know how much I hate confrontation. And I think they will listen once they hear what this place means to you."

"You don't understand. They don't care," the squirrel said, full of certainty.

"Wait, how does this sound?" asked Amy, brandishing one of her pages and standing up. "Dear city council member, my friend Bill Squirrel, is being kicked off of the his land where he's been living for a long time now years.

I'm wondering if there is anyone we can contact to have a hearing to discuss what can be done. There is no place more important to Bill than this land."

The squirrel nodded his head and paced back and forth. "I appreciate this, Amy. But they're not going to respond to kindness. You'll see."
