Lured With The Promise

Lucia tried to keep a brave face as her sisters pulled her outside. She did not want to go outside, but she did not want to hurt their feelings either. They looked so excited to show her what was going on. She reluctantly moved away from the lights and warmth of the house into the darkness outside—not that she could see it anyway. They had also insisted she wear a blindfold. She had tried to argue, but her sisters' pleading had made her fold, however reluctantly.

She had what she assumed were Caroline's warm hands holding hers, while Adela gripped her shoulders. The two of them were doing a great job of keeping her from bumping into furniture. She was not confident that she would come out unscathed, but she did not voice her concerns.

"Slowly," Caroline said to Adela as they navigated their youngest sister out the door and around the patio furniture.
