Upon almost arriving home, Everly, who had been lying unconscious in the backseat, began to stir. She groaned, rubbing her forehead, and slowly sat up. "Ugh, my body feels like it's shattered into pieces," she muttered, wincing at the aches and pains.
Ania, glancing at her through the rearview mirror, chuckled with relief. "Thank goodness you're finally awake, darling. I was starting to get worried that you might have gone into a coma."
Everly looked around. "Where's Ivan?" she asked, concern immediately clouding her eyes.
Ania's expression turned serious as she shook her head lightly. "He got into a different car with Sergei. He didn't tell me much when he handed you over, just that I needed to take you home safely, and he'd explain everything later when he got back."
"So you don't know if Ivan is okay right now?"
