Ivan tugged her cheek slightly, making her flinch. "I'm doing much better now and barely feel any pain, but I'm glad that you're worried about me." He leaned in and hugged her, resting his face on her shoulder.
Everly sighed, "Of course I'm worried. You're my husband after all." She blurted the word 'husband' out casually, like it was something she usually said, even though it was the first time she had ever said it.
Ivan paused, raising both eyebrows before pulling back slightly. He placed both hands on Everly's shoulders and asked, "What did you just say?"
Everly cocked an eyebrow at his question before repeated, "I said that, of course, I'm worried. You're my husband after all." She was confused as to why he was asking. It didn't seem like much of a big deal to her.
Ivan laughed with pure joy and, without warning, placed a kiss on Everly's lips for a few seconds before pulling away.
