Everly's heart pounded in her chest, it felt as if Sokolov had read her mind like a book. She glanced at Ania, who was leaning in, listening intently.

 

Sokolov's voice got lower as he continued, "Joke's on you, my dear. I've already found a much better supplier than Oleg. I don't need him anymore."

 

Everly stayed silent, listening to everything he was saying. Ania's presence made her feel at ease a bit, but Sokolov's words were almost suffocating. Although her fear left her, she felt it slowly coming back.
