After just a cursory glance at the list, Henry turned off the screen of his phone and slipped it back into his pocket.
Georgie inquired, "Was that your landlord, Lucy? What list did she send you?"
Henry confirmed, "Yes, it was Aunt Lucy on the phone. Her brother is coming to visit today, so she asked me to buy some groceries on the way home."
Daniel joined the conversation, "Oh, she actually has a brother? I thought she only had one sister."
Henry nodded, "Yes, she has a brother, aside from Aunt Evelyn who lives with us. I heard from her that her brother works in a big company and lives in another city. Actually, this will be my first time meeting him in person."
Georgie asked curiously, "Does he have any children?"
Henry replied casually, "Yes, he has. He has a daughter who is maybe 20 or 21 years old. And another girl who is very young. I'm not sure of her exact age."
"Is he rich?" Daniel queried next. Henry took a sip of his coffee before responding, "I suppose he is. I heard that he has a decently big house in the city where he lives. And isn't it obvious, since he works for a big company?"
Georgie followed up, "So he has a house in another city. Which city does he live in?"
At that point, Henry was starting to feel a little annoyed. "Why are these two asking so much about Aunt Lucy's brother?" he wondered silently.
Daniel then nudged Georgie with his elbow and remarked, "What good will it do you to know where he lives? Are you planning to move in with the guy?" Henry nodded slightly, acknowledging Daniel's words and silently commending him for his mature thinking, unlike Georgie. But his admiration for Daniel quickly waned as he heard the next part of his sentence. "You should ask if that man's daughter is beautiful or not," Daniel added with a mischievous grin.
Continuing on, Daniel said, "Hey, Henry. You've been single for so many years; I think it's time you got a girlfriend. Will Lucy's brother come with his family? If he does, you should check out his daughter. If she's pretty, I think you should make a move."
Upon hearing Daniel's words, Henry realized that Georgie and Daniel weren't actually interested in learning about Aunt Lucy's brother. They were just teasing him.
Georgie chimed in with a laugh, turning to Daniel as he apologized, "Oh, sorry, Daniel. I forgot why I would even need to know where Lucy's brother lives. It's our Henry here who needs that information." Then, addressing Henry directly, he continued, "You're surrounded by girls all day long, yet you're not interested in any of them. All the girls in your house are top-quality beauties, but you're like a cow refusing to eat grass right at its doorstep. So, I think you should explore the pastures of another city."
As Georgie finished his jest, both he and Daniel erupted into laughter, while Henry's frustration was evident as veins bulged on his forehead.
Henry still regretted the day he first invited these two to see his rented room. He had treated them to various foods, had a great time together, and even introduced them to all his housemates. They had all enjoyed themselves immensely. However, the next day when he came to class, he realized the mistake he had made. During their visit, he mentioned that he was the only male in the house, and upon learning this, the first thing they did when they saw him in class was tease him. Since that day, their teasing has never stopped.
When it comes to teasing Henry about girls, both Georgie and Daniel have their own styles, albeit with slightly different preferences. Daniel tends to go for girls his own age, so whenever he sees Henry talking to any of their classmates, he'll quip, "Looks like true love! I bet that girl can't wait to jump into your lap." On the other hand, Georgie's taste is a bit more mature—he's into older women. He'll often poke fun at Henry by suggesting he pursue either Lucy or Evelyn. Sometimes, he'll even concoct wild stories about Henry and the girls from their shared house. These stories, concocted purely for the sake of teasing, often take on a highly exaggerated and, at times, downright lewd tone, particularly when it comes to Lucy and Evelyn.
Henry has repeatedly asked Georgie to refrain from making inappropriate comments about Lucy and Evelyn in his presence, but instead of ceasing, Georgie's teasing only intensifies. He frequently quips, "Look, Daniel, he's so protective of them even though he hasn't even started an official relationship with either of them. If they knew how much our boy Henry thinks about them, they'd both be fighting over his attention." These remarks never fail to irk Henry, igniting a flame of anger within him. Meanwhile, Daniel, observing from the sidelines, remains silent, opting to chuckle along with Georgie rather than intervene on Henry's behalf.
Henry glanced at Georgie and Daniel, who were both laughing hysterically instead of focusing on their breakfast. Seeing their amused expressions, Henry realized that if he lingered any longer, they would inevitably continue teasing him. Hastily gulping down the last of his coffee, he stood up and announced, "I've finished my coffee. I'll be heading out now." As he rose from his seat, Daniel couldn't resist making a jibe, "Look at him go! Finished his coffee in a flash and now he's off, eager to check out the grass in the other city." Georgie, who was in the midst of taking a sip of water, nearly choked from suppressing his laughter at Daniel's quip.
Henry shot Daniel and Georgie an irritated glare before storming out of the room with a dark expression clouding his face. Despite Daniel and Georgie calling after him to wait for them to finish their breakfast, Henry paid no heed and swiftly exited the restaurant, his frustration palpable in his hurried footsteps.
