THE BIRTHDAY PARTY
"Pearl common get up I really want to go to the party and there is no way I'm going if you aren't coming with me,so plsss get uppp..!!."
...Joan said, shouting so loud in frustration because she has been trying to get her best friend out of the bed so they could attend the birthday party she was invited to from school.
But she covered her face again with the duvet like she didn't want to get out of bed anytime soon.
"Joann... b...but I d...don't want to goo..." She said yawning like she was exhausted and needed more sleep even while she was on bed or rather just waking up from a long night rest.
"But why...!! yo...you promised you'd go with me" Joan said with a smirk on her face scratching one side of her face slightly but sounded sad in her tone, yet in a manipulative and charming way just to make pearl accept.
To her surprise pearl quickly sat up and said removing the duvet from her face and stared at Joan.
"And when did I say that, I can't remember telling you that" she said smiling and demonstrating with her hands while talking because she knew her friend was only trying to persuade her on going to the party with her.
"Pidy..!!pidy..!!!pidy.!!!! plsss.." Joan said with her both hands together like she was praying while trying to keep a cute puppy face that wants it's master to throw a ball for it to play.
"common you know it's going to be fun, the swimming,the drinks and there will be karaoke there too you know..!!"
She said as she stood up from the bed and walking around the room smiling, with her eyes included and hoping that will convince her friend because she likes singing.
..." Pls say yes will you...? am about given up already." Joan said with her hands crossed and her faced turned the other way like she was desperate for attention.
" O..ook fine I'm going with you.." She said coming down from bed and going straight into the bathroom, "Thank you so much BFF I love you. "
" No..!! don't thank me yet because am sure going to kill you if I get embarrassed."…....." No you won't I'm certain"... Sitting on the couch inside pearl's room joan was almost lost in thoughts of the past.
...."Pearl ...!!!"
A strong voice shouted from a distance coming directly to pearl and drawing the attention of the crowd towards pearl,
...."what are you doing here, who invited you to my pool party..?" .."Becky common let her be.".... Another voice said from another angle,.
... "No..!! I won't, look at her with low sense of dressing, coming to a pool party with a skirt and a shirt.?.."
she said laughing while some of the crowds joined in laughing and making fun of her, pearl looked at herself viewing what she wore and saw it was obviously not a match for the pool.
" you should have stayed home were you belong,not coming to my party and ruining it with your dressing.
She said laughing in mockery, which left pearl no choice but to run out of the party in shame.
Joan on the other hand who was trying to get something for them to drink saw what had just happened and ran after her.
"Pearl...!! Pearl...!!! Pearl.....!!!! Hold on, Stop....!!! am sorry I shouldn't have left you,"..…"No it's fine it's not your fault, why does she have to bully me all the time, am never going to any school party ever again". Pearl said in tears and Joan had to hugg her to console her.
"Ok ...!!! "
Ever since 7 grade pearl never went to any party that has to do with her class mates.
Inside pearl's bedroom, she was done having her bath and was dressed up already.
.. " Joan I'm ready now, how do I look?.." Joan was still lost in her thought. "Joan...!!Joan...!!!"... "Yes sorry what did you say..?".... "I said am all dressed up how do I look..?" ... "Hmmmm...! You look okay buh I don't think you should wear those..."
she said with her hand on her jaw thinking of the right out fit. "And why not...? "
"Hellooo...oo..!! Pearl we are going for a birthday party not a movie show okay..?" She laughed.. "How about you put on a dress..hmmm.!!! Yes...!!!! That your green dress.." .. she clapped her hands in excitement as she said... "But am okay in this.." .... " Nope you not...!!"
...." Okay fine I will..."....." hurry up it's almost time for the party, it's starting by 9:00 Am.. "
Downstairs was pearl's father Mr Williams Thomas, preparing some pancakes for breakfast,... "Pearl..!!...Joan...!! come down stairs..!!!! Breakfast is ready ....!!!
He said and in no distant time they came downstairs in a hurry like they were little puppies running to catch a ball.
.... " Good morning dad.." she gave him a hug and he perked her slightly on the forehead as he always does.
" So dad I will be going for a birthday party with Joan today, 9:00am and it's a few minutes away..." .. she said as she put some pancakes in her mouth.
.... "you didn't tell me why....?...." A....am s....sorry d....dad I d..idn't want to go at first bu..h Joan was so eagered to go she didn't want to go alone so she cajoled me on going with her, I had no choice but to concur, she's my best friend after all.. "
She smiled as she ate her pancakes and drank some tea in a hurry.
..... "See you dad, let's go Joan."..... "okay.." ,...." i love you dad,".. pearl said as she and Joan ran outside laughing. "Love you too dear pls be safe okay....!!!.?"....He said starching his head to make sure his only daughter heard him,.... "Okay dad I will....!!!!!!!!!"
He was always worried about his daughter since his lovely wife her mother Mrs Isadora died during child birth, when ever he sees his daughter he always see his wife because she certainly took after her mother.
_."Hello guys you all are welcome to this party, hope we are enjoying ourselves...!!..." Yesssss...!!"...(The crowds said in response) "now to the left we have the kareoka, to the right we have the foods,drinks and dessert any thing y'all need.
..The Celebrant will be out soon, and as you all can see the pool is over there (he pointed at another direction) and here we have D....Jaaaa....Flezzy ..yyyy, Make some noise...!!! ....."wowwwww...!!!". (Everyone shouted in excitement) Now Let's party ...!!!! "
A loud voice of a Young guy like an MC from inside echoed outside the building, and at that moment Joan and Pearl just arrived from a taxi at the front of the building gate.
... "Wow this place is like heaven like the light the color of the big gate its so awesome..." She said looking straight at the house ... "Wait till you get inside, I told you it will be fun" Joan replied smiling as she looked at her friend in amazement.
As they walked In, the party had already started so they weren't really an area of concentration, causes everyone was dancing, eating and make use of the kareoka so they looked for a spot to sit and viewed the place to know the activity to do first.
But Pearl was already feeling different because she was more of an indoor person let's say introvert kind of person.
They saw a sit with a great view and Joan immediately went straight to the food area yeah, she was a foodie.
... "Pearl we can sit here ok..." As she said she was looking at the table where the foods, snacks and drinks were like she was hypnotized.
" I will be right back.." ....Joan said as she walked almost immediately she said that..... "B...but where you going, are you leaving me here all by my self ...?? "...." Relax I'm coming won't take long ..."
