Hearing Maverick's serious inquiry, Peter realized how odd his behavior seemed. He awkwardly scratched his head and explained with a forced smile that it was just a joke.
To avoid further suspicions about his mental state, Peter redirected the conversation back to Mysterio.
Pointing at Mysterio on the large screen opposite, Peter said with some frustration, "That fishbowl head isn't easy to deal with. He's very good at creating illusions, the kind that makes it impossible to distinguish reality from fiction. I've been tricked by him a lot recently, making me look like a fool."
"Creating illusions that are indistinguishable from reality? Interesting," Maverick said thoughtfully, stroking his chin.
Peter continued, "Indeed, using this ability to watch 'Jurassic World' would be quite something, like having dinosaurs right in front of you."
"By the way, today on the Brooklyn Bridge, he said that's where I destroyed him, so he wanted to destroy me there as well," Peter recalled clues from his fight with Mysterio earlier that day.
"Honestly, I can't remember doing anything significant on the Brooklyn Bridge. Damn, I've been there probably a hundred times."
"I think we need a large and comprehensive database. That might help us find information on this fishbowl." Maverick said after pondering for a moment.
Peter scratched his head and asked, "Where should we go for that?"
"Let's go to the police station. Their records are the most comprehensive," Maverick replied calmly.
"The police station?" Peter was a bit surprised. He hadn't expected Venom to suggest that, but on second thought, it made sense. The police station did have extensive records.
"I've been there a few times before. It's decent, and their records should cover most criminals," Maverick said, then turned to Peter and added, "I'll go there tonight to check things out. Meanwhile, you think of any other clues you might have. The more detailed the search, the more accurate the results."
Feeling a bit embarrassed that Maverick was going to help him gather information, Peter scratched his head and said, "This is really too much trouble for you. It's my issue. How about I go with you?"
"Sure, that would make it easier," Maverick nodded. It seemed having Peter accompany him to the station would indeed be the most convenient.
After agreeing on their plan, they arranged to meet at midnight on the rooftop of the building next to the police station.
After setting the time, Maverick went home to prepare. His conversation with Peter had sparked an idea about the police station's database.
In the future, he might need to look up information frequently. If he had to go to the police station every time, it would be too troublesome. Maybe he could create a backdoor program to transfer the police station's database to his computer and sync it in real-time. This way, he could access the information from home whenever he needed.
With this idea in mind, Maverick quickly started working on his computer.
As night fell and it approached midnight, he unplugged the USB drive from his computer, then jumped out of the window and headed toward the rooftop next to the police station where he had agreed to meet Peter.
*Swish!* A black web stuck to the rooftop, and Maverick's black figure leaped up from below.
"Oh, you're already here. Looks like I'm a bit late," Maverick said, seeing Peter already waiting on the rooftop.
Peter waved his hand and said, "No, you're right on time. I just got here a bit early."
Peter had been preoccupied with thoughts about Mysterio, so he had come to the rooftop an hour earlier and stared at the sky in a daze.
"Since we're all set, let's head out. Just follow me," Maverick said as he turned and leaped off the rooftop, swinging towards the police station.
Peter followed closely behind, heading towards the police station.
In no time, the two of them arrived outside the archives. They clung to the wall like lizards, hidden in the shadows on either side.
Maverick skillfully opened the window and lightly jumped onto the floor inside. Peter followed him in, moving quietly to avoid making any noise.
After turning on the computer, Maverick inserted the USB drive he had prepared and opened the database. Turning to Peter, he asked, "Now tell me the clues you know, and we'll use them to search for the right person in this database."
Peter, holding his chin and pondering for a moment, finally spoke, "Brooklyn Bridge, Spider-Man. Based on his revenge against me today, there might also be a helicopter involved."
"He said I ruined his life, so he must have been doing quite well before, at least not just some petty thug."
Maverick entered the keywords based on Peter's clues and began the search. He then laid out the filtered results for Peter to review.
"There are car accidents, robberies, helicopter crashes. Let me see... helicopter crash... Quentin Beck! I remember now! It's him!"
Peter pointed to the profile of a man on the screen.
"About a year ago, a film crew was shooting a car chase scene on the bridge. One of the scenes involved a chain of explosions, and one of the explosion points was too powerful, damaging the rotor of the helicopter filming in the air."
"I happened to be passing by and rescued the people from the helicopter, but it crashed. Then I found illegally placed explosives in the tower. A special effects technician had hidden them without permission, planning an even bigger explosion."
"The helicopter crash was his doing. When discovered, he tried to escape, but I couldn't let him go. I restrained him and handed him over to the police."
Peter sighed helplessly and continued, "When he was arrested, he kept saying it was all my fault and swore he would get revenge on me."
"Ah, what an annoying criminal. He doesn't even reflect on his own mistakes," Maverick said, shaking his head.
He then clicked on the details of the case. "This guy is Quentin Beck. His crime got him a year in prison, and he was released not long ago."
"I think he must have been preparing for a while, and then he couldn't wait to start his revenge on you."
"First, he smeared your name, then he jumped out as a hero himself. He wants to steal your masked hero life and turn you into a public enemy."
"Quentin Beck, he spent that entire year in prison planning this."
Peter sighed and pointed to the address on the screen, "Now I finally understand what's going on. This 'Wonder Studio' must be his place. I think I should confront him in person and then teach him a good lesson."
