'Damn it! This guy is definitely not just a simple entrepreneur. Norman Osborn screwed me over, M****! F***!' the Goblin cursed inwardly. He had never imagined this job would be so dangerous. Despite his bravado, he still had his limits.
If he had known earlier that Wilson Fisk had his own armed guards, he never would have agreed to Norman Osborn's request so easily. Even if he did, he would have made thorough preparations before acting.
Kingpin, looking at the Goblin's mask, spoke less oppressively, "However, I can give you an opportunity to make a deal. Just tell me who sent you, and I will let you go. Moreover, I might even hire you for future jobs."
"A fair price," the Goblin nodded and said straightforwardly, "The person who hired me is Norman Osborn. He wanted me to kill you, both today and previously."
"I'm just a hired hand. I don't know what kind of grudge exists between you two. That damned guy never told me you had such extensive resources."
Upon hearing this, Kingpin furrowed his brow. So, the one who wanted him dead was Norman Osborn.
He had considered many candidates who might want him dead, but he had not expected it to be Osborn, someone he believed to be firmly under his control.
Norman Osborn had previously borrowed a substantial high-interest loan from Kingpin to keep Oscorp afloat. To repay this debt, Osborn had to comply with many unreasonable demands from Kingpin, including access to his life's inventions and research, the very core of Oscorp.
After Kingpin revealed his demands, Osborn realized it had all been a trap. Kingpin had orchestrated the entire situation to take over Oscorp. Even the financial troubles that led Osborn to borrow the money might have been a setup by Kingpin.
Though Osborn sensed Kingpin's sinister intentions, the situation had already spiraled out of control, and he had no effective means to stop it.
Frustrated, Osborn pondered for a long time before deciding to eliminate Kingpin, the root of all his troubles. Fearing potential failures in his experiments, he found the Goblin, who was then just a street thug, and struck a deal with him.
Thus, with Osborn's enhancements and weaponry, the once obscure street thug transformed into the notorious Goblin.
As Kingpin marveled and reflected on the revelation that Norman Osborn was the man in the shadows, the Goblin subtly pressed a button on his arm.
After the Goblin secretly activated the button, his glider, which was not far from him, deployed multiple laser-bladed knives. These blades spun rapidly and ascended.
In an instant, the net that had ensnared him was shredded by the glider's laser blades. Simultaneously, the Goblin threw a green pumpkin bomb, which, upon hitting the ground, erupted into thick green smoke.
The strong, acrid smell caused everyone present to cough incessantly. Taking advantage of the cover provided by the green smoke, the Goblin quickly mounted his glider and escaped.
"Hehehe! Hahaha! I hope we have another chance to do business in the future, Mr. Fisk!" the Goblin left behind only his eerie laughter as he swiftly departed.
Though Fisk had agreed to a deal moments before, the Goblin dared not truly gamble his life. Thus, he devised a plan to escape unexpectedly.
Several minutes passed before the smoke cleared from the office. Alistair wiped the tears from his eyes caused by the irritants and turned to Kingpin, saying, "Cough, cough! Should we go after that Goblin?"
Hearing Alistair's question, Kingpin folded the handkerchief he had used to wipe his eyes and replied, "No need. He's just a small fry. He might still be useful in the future."
Kingpin then thought of something and, with a cold gaze, instructed Alistair, "The priority now is Norman Osborn."
"I never thought that damn rat would dare to send someone to assassinate me. I almost got bitten by my own prey. Quite unexpected."
"Have someone take care of him. Make sure it's done cleanly. If he wants to play dirty, then I'll play along. If he doesn't want to hand over Oscorp to me, he'll face death."
"Once he's dead, Oscorp will still fall into my hands. It'll just require a bit more effort."
Alistair nodded at Kingpin's orders and directed the remaining armed guards to remove the bodies from the office.
Then, others came to thoroughly clean the entire floor, removing all traces of blood and restoring the floor to its pristine, shiny state.
Sitting at his desk, Kingpin pondered the events of the day, feeling exceedingly frustrated.
Spider-Man, the Goblin, Norman Osborn, and Venom—these individuals had made his recent life and business dealings quite unsatisfactory.
"I will eventually clean you all up, one by one," Kingpin murmured softly, clenching his fist.

Oscorp, Top Floor Laboratory
Norman Osborn used his ID card to open the lab door. The Goblin had informed him that he would make another attempt to assassinate Wilson Fisk today, and he had come to collect the results.
In the dim lab, the only light came from the computer screens, casting an eerie blue glow. The Goblin, who was supposed to report the assassination results, was standing at the computer, engrossed in whatever he was doing, completely ignoring Osborn's entrance.
Seeing this, Norman Osborn instantly realized something. He quickly grabbed a gun from a nearby shelf and fired at the Goblin.
"Damn it! What have you done with my data!" Norman Osborn shouted angrily as he fired, eager to eliminate the figure before him.
"Hehehe! Hahaha! You're too late, Osborn."
Before the bullets could hit him, the Goblin immediately maneuvered his glider to shield himself, using it to block all of Osborn's shots.
The sound of bullets pinging off the glider rang out continuously, as the raised glider deflected every shot, leaving the Goblin unharmed.
Seeing this, Norman Osborn gritted his teeth even harder. He knew that the glider and the gear the Goblin was wearing were all designed and developed by him.
Osborn had intended to use that data to keep the Goblin under his control, making him a blade to execute tasks that were inconvenient for him to handle directly.
Yet now, this blade had developed its own agenda and was starting to turn against him before it had even been used effectively against his enemies.
