I glanced back. "Didn't you tell me two days ago that you'd be back from Adelaide on Wednesday?" I asked, curious.
"Oh God! I forgot to inform you. We got back yesterday evening. I'm sorry," she said, smiling.
"You always do this," I said, giving her a slight push.
By the way, this is my best and childhood friend, Charlie. She was the first friend I made when I came here. Charlie is an aspiring athlete, aiming for the Olympics. She participates in all the school's sports activities and has won many medals. She always makes us play some silly sports in our free time. Charlie has a great sense of humor and can make us laugh even in serious situations. As we reached the school, our other three friends, Mathilde, Olivia, and Camilla, were waiting for us at the gate.
"Come faster, we are getting late!" Mathilde yelled.
"Yes, coming!" Charlie and I said together.
Holy Cross High School, one of the oldest schools in Sydney. I've had the best time here and made so many amazing memories. I still miss being in school.
"When are they going to change this stupid uniform?" Mathilde asked angrily.
"For God's sake, don't start again," Olivia said in a bored tone.
"Silly Mathilde's got a problem with everything," mocked Camilla.
Mathilde pushed Camilla slightly, and all five of us laughed.
So, there's us, the group of five. Our mom calls us The Fantastic Five. Mathilde is the fashionista of the group, an extreme extrovert who makes friends very easily. But sometimes she's also a pain in the ass. She has so many amazing clothes; we often borrow them from her for occasions. Olivia is shy but also the kindest and the sweetest one in our group. She's a really good person to talk to and the most matured one among us. Camilla is the topper of the school. We all call her Cami. She is incredibly good in studies and very smart. She helps us a lot during exam preparations. She is a little bossy but also lovely at the same time.
We walked through the corridors to our class. Suddenly, the most good-looking guy from our school and also our classmate was walking towards the class. His name is Ryan Collins. Mathilde's had a huge crush on him for years. She always fantasizes about marrying him.
"How can someone look so handsome?" said Mathilde in a slow tone as Ryan walked into his class.
"Why don't you go and ask him?" I asked jokingly.
All four of us laughed.
"What is the question, by the way?" a shrill voice came from behind.
My friends and I were scared. "Aren't y'all supposed to be in your class at this time?" she asked.
"Yes, Sister, we are. Sorry!" I said in a scared tone.
"Get to your class! Quickly!" she said angrily.
That was Sister Maria, our school principal. She is pretty strict when it comes to rules but also very helpful.
We rushed inside our class. Our first class was about to start.
"That was pretty close," said Charlie.
"Do you think she heard us?" asked Mathilde in a scared tone.
"I don't think so. If she had, she would have scolded us there and then," I said.
All agreed.
"First day of school and our day starts with maths," said Olivia sadly.
"Yes, and a subject like maths goes above your head, right?" Katie, one of our classmates, laughed. Emma, her friend, laughed with her.
"And still, Olivia scores better than you two in exams," Charlie joked, and we all laughed.
"It's a waste of time to argue with these two anyways," Olivia joked.
Katie and Emma are the mean girls of our class. They think they are queens and are always jealous of everyone around.
Our Maths teacher, Sister Elsa, came and started our class. After a couple of classes, we had our lunch break. As we were walking downstairs, Mathilde bumped accidentally into someone. It was Ryan! When Mathilde saw it was him, she couldn't even breathe.
"Sorry!" he said and left.
"Someone's blushing," Cami joked after he left.
We all laughed, and Mathilde's cheeks turned red.
We quickly had our lunch and were roaming around.
"Next is PE, and we are swimming," said Charlie excitedly.
"Yeah!" said Mathilde in a bored tone. (She hated swimming, and everyone in the class knew.)
Our swimming class was about to start, and we reached on time. Mr. Nicohls, our PE teacher, was everyone's favorite. We used to call him Mr. Biceps secretly. He is a fitness freak and has an amazing physique. He made us all stand in one line. An announcement was made on the intercom that Mr. Nicohls was called to the principal's office. Before he left, he made it very clear that no one was going inside the pool without his permission and there shouldn't be any complaints.
Suddenly, someone pushed Mathilde into the pool from behind.
