73 The Illegitimate Child

Cecilia’s POV

“My dear sister, do you like this?”

In the dream, a boy with indistinguishable features stood before me. His red hair glimmered under the sunlight.

I frowned in confusion. I was certain I had never seen him before, but strangely, I didn’t feel afraid. I looked around at my surroundings, finding them beautiful and warm.

Everything here felt eerily familiar, as if I had lived here before.

I glanced around, noticing no one else but the boy and me in the room.

“Sister, I searched for a long time to find this. You’ve always loved rubies, haven’t you?”

The red-haired boy’s tone was doting, with a hint of entreaty. In his hand was a large ruby, clear and meticulously cut. Under the sunlight, it looked like a solidified flame.

“I don’t want it.”

I heard my own voice as my arm stretched out, snatching the ruby from the boy’s hand and throwing it away with all my might.
