Klaus’s POV

It happened again, I thought. Watching Emilia disappear from my sight, this was the second time. I gazed towards the direction the wolf-eagle had taken her, a deafening roar echoing in my mind, causing a splitting headache.

"Emilia." I tried to call out, but my voice was hoarse. I didn’t know how long I stood there; my clenched fingers were now covered in a thin layer of frost.

"She’ll be alright," I silently reassured myself. But frustration bubbled within me. Why did something always happen to Emilia right in front of me?

From the first moment I met her, I knew she would bring endless trouble. Her green eyes felt familiar, and the birthmark on her back confirmed my suspicion. She was a Borin, a descendant of the family that caused my parents’ death.
