Cecilia’s POV

The moment I realized everything had been orchestrated by Ulysses, the fury inside me nearly consumed my rational mind.

I grabbed the black raven by the neck, forcing it to turn its head and look at me. Its pitiful eyes gleamed as they met my own intense gaze.

“What’s going on here?” I demanded.

“Oh, dear master, where would you like me to begin?” the raven stammered, its eyes darting nervously.

“Start with why Ulysses is pretending to be that girl’s brother,” I answered coldly.

“Well, actually,” the raven slumped its wings as if it was stalling, “I don’t really know much. I was only guiding Ulysses’ boat along the river when, as you saw, a bunch of strange glowing red fish suddenly attacked. Ulysses lost consciousness and fell into the river, and just before he blacked out, I turned back into a brooch. After that, I couldn’t see anything until I was handed over to you.”
