125 The Key Answer

Emilia’s POV

By the afternoon, the entire army had packed up. Everyone believed the war was coming to an end. Soldiers gathered what they could carry, burning everything else they had to leave behind.

Klaus, dressed in lighter clothing this time instead of armor, carried a golden banner adorned with the royal crest. He led a small, fully-armed patrol as they moved forward through the thick smoke that rose around them.

Without much warning, Klaus mounted his horse and hoisted me up to sit in front of him, riding swiftly into the distance.

“Where are we going?” I asked, my voice catching in the wind as the horse galloped at full speed.

“We're headed to a nearby town. Tonight, we’ll sign the peace treaty with the Bear Kingdom in the castle there. We need to make preparations,” Klaus replied, his voice firm as the wind whipped through his hair. Behind him, the royal flag flapped noisily in the breeze.
