Emilia's POV
I realized I’d made a big mistake.
I shouldn’t have shown my confusion about this place to anyone except Klaus. That was definitely risky.
“I...” I blinked in a bit of panic, stumbling over my words. “Ever since Alpha Klaus rescued me from the lake, I’ve forgotten a lot of things.”
“Then how do you remember that crystal ball in your hands?” Carlos shot back, his tone sharp.
His question made my heart race, and I instinctively took a step back. But even so, I forced myself to put on a more innocent expression and said, “Honestly, I don’t even know who the crystal ball belongs to, Carlos. I just want to return it to its rightful owner.”
I kept my eyes down, letting my face show helplessness.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Carlos’s yellow cloak shift as he stepped closer.
“Emilia, if you weren’t Klaus’ slave right now, I’d suggest to Caesar that we treat you as a spy,” Carlos said coldly, his words sinking like lead into my heart.
