In the following week, except for occasional visits home, Tewell spent his time studying some items in Diagon Alley.
Crowns, magic stones, and rings with resurrection stones.
These were all precious items renowned in the magical world, and any one of them sold could improve the Weasley family's situation.
However, in his eyes, the research value was more important than mere money.
But after a week of research with Malvolio, they still couldn't figure anything out.
First, the crown.
Tewell once again attempted to place the crown on his head.
...
"Fairy tales are all lies!"
Ten minutes later, he angrily threw the crown onto the table again, caught by Malvolio opposite him.
"If this crown were really useful, my original form wouldn't have chosen to be made into a Horcrux," he scoffed.
"With your brain, even if the treasure were made into a Horcrux, there's nothing surprising," Tewell retorted.
Given Voldemort's temperament, if he really turned a crown with special magical effects into a Horcrux—
"Hey, don't confuse us," Malvolio threw the crown in front of Tewell, "that's what Tom Riddle did, what does it have to do with me, Malvolio?"
Tewell gave him a speechless look and explored the restored crown.
Time had not left a trace on it, after the soul fragments inside disappeared, the crown was as dazzling as it was a thousand years ago.
Of course, he didn't know if it was like this a thousand years ago.
The inscription under the crown was clearly visible—
"Exceptional wisdom is humanity's greatest wealth."
To be blunt, every Ravenclaw student knows this motto, but the problem is he still doesn't know how to use it.
"If we can't figure it out, let it be," Malvolio picked up the magic stone and played with it in his hand, "it's better to study this stone, at least the magic power on it is real."
He took the small iron spoon placed on the table and carefully placed the magic stone on one end of the spoon.
...
"Tewell couldn't help but laugh," then you figure out something, but in the end, you can't even drive the life force inside!"
Malvolio's face turned red, imitating Tewell, he threw the magic stone onto the table, knocking it beside the crown.
It was this action that a small strand of life force connected to the crown, emitting a faint magical fluctuation.
This fluctuation was as subtle as a spring breeze, but Tewell and Malvolio were not ordinary wizards, they immediately focused their attention on the crown.
"It's absorbing life force, but there's still no magic feedback," after observing for a while, Malvolio frowned.
In fact, not only was there no magical feedback from the crown, even the absorbed life force seemed to disappear, as if the influx of life force was an illusion.
The crown remained the same.
"This also counts as a slight change, much better than the previous cluelessness," Tewell said.
"I remember the crown was also placed together with the magic stone before, why is there such a change now?"
"Then you have to ask yourself, what did you just do?"
Malvolio was stunned for a moment, recalling his actions just now.
"I just simply drove the life force inside the magic stone, like when I shaped the body, except this time it wasn't for absorption."
So, does that mean the crown is also absorbing life force, and then resurrecting?!
Is the soul of Ravenclaw resting inside?!
Tewell was frightened by his own speculation.
Malvolio also realized this problem, but as the only wizard known to have made a Horcrux, he immediately denied the possibility.
"If there really were a soul inside, then my previous deceased brother wouldn't be unaware. And the feeling of staying in a Horcrux, you may not know, it's like completely controlling this thing, every inch of it can be perceived by me, there are no blind spots."
Tewell snapped back to reality, knowing he had been foolish just now.
The crown couldn't possibly be Ravenclaw's Horcrux, or else he would have discovered it long ago.
And from his encounter with Helga, the founders wouldn't stoop to using such a lowly method to seek immortality.
But—
"I certainly don't know what a Horcrux feels like, and I don't want to know either," he stood up with irritation.
He swept the things on the table into his wallet, of course, carefully placing the crown and magic stone into a separate bag.
"Hey hey, that ring has been my vessel for so long, can't you be more gentle?" Malvolio complained.
Tewell couldn't be bothered with him.
This resurrected soul was inexplicably sentimental, always trying to burden him with complaints.
"Let's go, let's get Borgin's crystals."
As he moved, his face gradually morphed back into Dumbledore's.
"After witnessing so much magic by your side, what I regret most is not paying enough attention to Transfiguration."
Tewell walked out, saying, "Aren't you shaped by life force? Can't you just mold your own face?"
"I can only follow the appearance of the soul, become younger, or have a bald head like the crown."
Borgin and Burkes's shop.
When the two arrived, the shop had just opened.
"Sorry, Mr. Percyval, I've been lacking sleep recently and have been dozing off," Borgin welcomed them with a smile.
After spending some time together, he realized that this Mr. Percyval was still quite friendly towards him.
At least willing to pay, and not a small amount.
"Are you implying that we disturbed your sleep?" Following behind Tewell, Malvolio glared at him impolitely.
Well, this Mr. Malvolio wasn't very friendly.
"What happened before was our fault, I didn't expect protective magic to weaken because of the walls," Tewell smiled apologetically at Borgin.
"I didn't mean to blame you," Borgin bowed gratefully, "Regarding your commission, I've completed it."
He agilely went to the counter and pulled out a small bag from inside, "Here are two crystals for you to inspect."
Before Tewell could reach out, Malvolio snatched them first, pouring the two sparkling crystals into his hands.
"Not bad," feeling the protective power of the crystals, Malvolio squinted happily, "just the protective ability is a bit lacking."
He immediately began muttering with Borgin.
As for Tewell, he was looking with interest at the black cabinet in front of him.
If he wasn't mistaken, this was a Disappearing Cabinet that had gradually fallen out of use in the wizarding world.
By using a specific spell, it opened a passage connecting two locations.
But because it was too easily damaged, and with the prevalence of Apparition, Disappearing Cabinets were now rarely seen by wizards.
Tewell didn't understand the principle of the Disappearing Cabinet, just like he didn't understand why Harry Potter would appear inside it.
"Is this a broken Disappearing Cabinet?" he pointed at the cabinet and asked.
"Of course," Borgin immediately stopped arguing with Malvolio and looked up, shouting loudly, "We don't even know where the other matching cabinet went."
Feeling the increasingly rapid breathing inside, Tewell smirked and knocked twice.
"It's quite interesting, do you sell it?"
He recalled the plot of the movie and instantly understood why Harry appeared here.
Borgin was surprised, mouth gaping, but luckily Malvolio helped him articulate, "What are you buying this thing for? It's not safe, and it's not convenient."
"Just for the moment," Tewell shrugged, "If Mr. Borgin finds another one, even if it's broken, I'm willing to buy it."
"I'll keep an eye out for you," Borgin agreed without hesitation.
