Goddess and the beast

She stood there, staring at Esmond, who was on the ground.

[What are you doing?]

"How are you here? How can your celestial body take form in a place like this?"

She sighed.

[I asked a question first, but alright, this place is not on your planet; this is a different place made with divinity and magic—a special domain, if you will.]

She touched the still, dark water; it began to ripple and changed into a grand, vibrant room.

Esmond was seated at a long table.

Echidona made her way to him, standing behind him, massaging his shoulders and calming him.

[We weren't meant to meet so soon, but that child just so happened to cause our early meeting.]

"..... What's your relationship with her?"

[Well....]

She took her time thinking and chose to say nothing; she wanted to keep some things a secret.
