The smell of war

Her voice rings in my ears and aches my heart. The things I want to learn and seek—it's like she's pulling me towards her. Who is she? What is she? What life did she live after that incident?

I do not know, but if I were given the chance to talk to her again, I would gladly do it.

Though we've fought each other and killed each other, I would like to talk to her once more.

"I'm not asking for a year or a month, but a single day," I muttered as I dazedly walked towards Cordelia.

"What's the matter?" Gesine asked, holding my right hand.

"Nothing, I just remembered something." I'm not trying to worry her, so I pulled myself together to try and forget about her.

"Esmond... this situation, I don't think we can run away," Cassandra whispered as she looked around.

We were surrounded by soldiers and knights; all of them cheered and praised me for dealing with their problem.
