I conjured two lights of intermediate healing magic and inserted them in the old lady's blood stream. By focusing my eyes, I can sense what the lights are feeling.
I checked her whole body through the bloodstream, and I found out that my guess was correct. Something is wrong with her blood.
It's not that the amount of white blood cells has gone abnormal, like leukemia. But it's the red blood cells that is a problem. It doesn't feel like the red blood cells are normal.
I continued to check the bone marrow located in the hip, specifically the part that produces red blood cells. Something was definitely wrong.
Some of the red blood cells that were produced weren't like the others. In other words, defective. Perhaps healing the factory could work?
I commanded my healing magic, and I tried healing the bone marrow on her body, where the red blood cells are supposed to be created. And thank god for biology lessons at high school, because that is precisely what's wrong with her.
After a whole minute passes, all the bone marrow on her body (the ones that I can find) has been healed. Though the changes couldn't be seen right away, it should fix her problems after a few days.
She was a little confused as to what I did, so I explained it to her. She is somewhat freaked out about how severe it sounds after I told her.
"T-Thank you so much!"
Of course, she is still grateful. She bowed at me immediately, and I'm just happy that she managed to come to me before it got really bad.
"I was actually expecting that my situation would be very bad, so I thought I could try meeting the Saint Healer. But I guess I can be healed, even without the saint healer!"
Oh? She thought I wasn't the Saint Healer?
After bidding farewell, the old lady turned around after thanking me again and left the church. The nun at the door called in for the next person, and both Khel and the priest giggled at me.
"Was her situation that bad?"
Khel asked from the seat across mine and the priest, and I just shook my shoulder.
"For her age, yes."
"Can other healers... heal her?"
The priest, this time, asked me. And with all honesty, I just shook my head.
"They can, temporarily."
"Huh...?"
The priest became confused, but he will have to get over it because a young man came to the station.
As usual, Khel asked for his name and stuff. It's just to get us to know each other and not make things awkward before the healing session. The young man answered Khel's questions and showed her his problem.
He pulled his arm sleeves, showing a very nasty wound.
It looks like venom. Because around the big bite mark, there is a thickened cloud of purple colour on his skin. Around the cloud are thin purple lines that covered everywhere all over his hand. I realized right away that those are his blood vessels.
From the bitemark, it doesn't look like a large beast. The size of the two bigger middle holes is only as big as the edge of a pen, while the rest of the holes are much smaller. Judging by how there's more than two teeth biting it, it doesn't look like a snake.
So, I can only guess.
"Is it a rat or something?"
The young man turned his head at me with surprise, and he nodded.
"Quite similar to a rat..."
"That's so unfortunate."
I lifted my finger, gesturing to him to get his hand closer to me. He leaned closer at me and moved his hand closer. I put my hands above his wound and started healing.
"So, how did it happen?"
The priest asked the young man who is still feeling a bit stingy in the hand from being healed.
"Well... I was walking back after doing a quest. I am an adventurer, by the way."
He puts his other hand on his chest, feeling proud. The priest simply nodded and continued listening.
"And then, this thing... this big rat suddenly jumps on me. I had to protect myself, so I swung my hand as if trying to hit it. But it held on to my hand, and by the time I realized, it had already bitten my hand."
"Sounds scary... What animal was it?"
"I'm not sure, I have never seen it before. It has three tails and the fur is dark red. Quite a scary little thing."
After listening to the description, I realized my thoughts are exactly.
It's called the 'Little Devil'. This ambiguous ranked monster is just exactly like the name said. It's small, only twenty to thirty centimetres tall and weighs less than ten kilograms. It's basically like an overgrown rat, but it has a very powerful and dangerous twist to make up for its size.
The scary part of this monster is the fur. It has a dark red fur with a few strokes of black lines on the left and right side of the body. This little devil also has more than one tail. Usually the amount of tails were used to determine how dangerous this beast is. The less tails, the more dangerous.
It's very venomous. The venom wasn't exactly as lethal as that of a snake, but if it wasn't healed quickly, the part of the body that was affected might need to be amputated because the venom wasn't exactly heal-able.
Of course, there are other ways of healing this wound without having to do amputation. I read about it in the book regarding healing magic, and I'm glad that I know about this method.
I quickly summoned a bottle of magic potion from my space ring and held it in one hand while the other holding the guy's hand. I turned to the priest next to me for assistance.
"Can you two hold him? This might get dirty."
I said to the priest and Khel, but the adventurer guy turned really confused.
"W-What? What do you m-"
Before he knows it, two people are already holding him in the neck and in the body, as if strangling him. I'm glad those two trusted me to do anything I asked without even asking.
Now, then. Let's begin.
I put the potion bottle on the ground and summoned a small knife. The adventurer guy quickly freaked out, but this is necessary.
"W-W-W-Wait!!"
"Unless you want to get your hand amputated, there is no other way to heal this venom."
"B-But wait!!"
I turned to the two strangling him and nodded. They both nodded back as the other people in the room looked at us in confusion.
Then, I slowly opened his skin using the knife.
"Aaahhh--!!!"
He shouted in pain as I opened only a little bit of his skin. It must be quite uncomfortable for him, getting strangled then having his skin cut. However, this will be over quite shortly, so hang in there.
The sight of blood quickly alerted everyone else in the church. Normally the only ones who dare to hurt their patients are doctors, but here I am doing it.
The other nuns stopped what they were doing and watched as I poured the potion of magic into his opened wound.
I used magic to control the magic liquid inside his bloodstream, making it push the venom out of his body from the wound. After a few seconds, a lot of black water quickly flowed out of his hand from the wound I carved and fell to the ground.
Sorry for dirtying the ground, but I'm glad the venom actually ran out of the wound.
After making sure all the venom was out, I used my healing magic and closed the wound. The process had taken a little bit over five minutes to get all the venom out, so the young man, as well as the priest and Khel, was quite exhausted.
The young man was fighting with the pain for so long, and he was out of breath. It's much better now that the venom was completely out of his body. He just needs to slowly get his blood to his hand so that it won't be so pale.
The nuns let out a sigh of relief, and the priest as well as Khel controlled their breath. As for me...
I fell down to my butt on the chair, with sweat all over me. My back was leaned back, and I'm trying to calm my breath so that I wouldn't be so tired.
Just this much and I'm at my limit...? This is only the second person.
The young man looked at his closed wound and tried moving his pale hand. Realizing that his hand is moving again now, he smiled happily. Then, he turned at me.
"T-Thank you so much!! At first, I thought I might have to amputate my arm."
"You probably should have. If only you came a bit late, the only choice was amputation."
"Eeep--"
He lets out a scared voice. Certainly, that must be terrifying to imagine.
After that, the young man left, and I asked the priest to switch places with me as I tried regaining my magic energy. The next two people were taken care of by the priest, while I did the next four. The four-two-four cycle kept on going as I continued to non stop regaining my magic energy.
And the day... it is still so young.
