Two hours have passed since the healing act began.
And it went...
"Well, that was fast."
Couldn't agree more, Khel.
Two hours since the act began, the line had been eaten away by around 80%. Thanks to my Knight tier magic, the line quickly reduces extremely fast because a single person only takes like ten seconds to heal.
Though some of them are complaining because they didn't trust my healing, Khel immediately assured them that I'm the Saint Healer.
Those people immediately ran out of the church in humiliation. I mean, it was quite obvious.
Khel pushed her back to the chair while I just chuckled. She was very exhausted, having to greet so many people in the span of two hours. We did take care of at least 90% of those people, since my healing was so fast the other healers barely got any chance of dealing with a patient.
I can only laugh at her because she looked more tired than me.
"You seem more exhausted than me. Are you sick, by any chance?"
"Partnering with you will definitely get me sick, someday..."
"Sorry for being exhausting~."
Khel let out a long sigh while I laughed again. We were given a minute of rest since our station had over a hundred people already. The nun at the door let us have some breathing time while giving more chances to the healers at the other stations.
Too bad there's no candies here. If there was, I would have treated her some. There are only sweets like cakes and bread but those aren't the ones I want.
Khel signalled the nun at the door to let the next person in. It was a young female adventurer with a wounded elbow. This is the fifth adventurer already. Normally, there wouldn't be this many adventurers coming. Just what is going on?
She seemed like a close quarter combat type. Her two short swords are sheathed on her hips. And from her face, I think I recognized her somewhere. She's the type to always hang on the Office from time to time back then.
"Ah, another adventurer!"
Khel greets the female coming to our station. The wound on her elbow looked bad underneath that bandage. The bandage was painted red, and she kept on holding her upper arm.
"Can you tell us your name?"
I asked her softly, which surprised Khel, because she was supposed to be the one asking. But she was tired due to all those talking, so I guess I should take her job a little.
"My name is Linda, a Green ranked adventurer."
"Green?"
Wow, a Green. That's a rank higher than mine.
"So, what happened, Linda? Did you get scarred by a beast?"
I asked while slowly opening her bandage, and the adventurer began telling me.
"It was... stupid."
"We have time. You can tell me if you want."
I finally opened the wound and studied it. It looks like a sword cut, but it's pretty deep.
Sword cut... an accident?
"It happened in the arena..."
"Ah, the adventurers arena. It just opened this week, yes?"
I activated my healing magic. She felt a little tingle on it, which made her jump a little. She was able to hold it in mostly, and I tried to be more gentle with the healing.
"Yeah, and everyone is being a little too barbaric. Especially this one group. They somewhat challenged nearly everyone coming to the arena, especially the close quarter combatants, like me.
I didn't want to, but they kept on pestering me into fighting. They even mocked my teammates, so I had no choice. In the end, they beat me up easily, leaving me with this wound."
She looked down because of her ill feelings towards them. Losing a fight, especially to a bully, is the worst feeling ever. But not fighting them felt much worse.
"Hey, don't worry about it. You stood up to bullies. That's the most noble act ever."
"Thanks..."
"Tell me about their team."
She kept on explaining to me the details, even though she didn't need to.
They are a team of high ranked adventurers. With a Yellow ranked as their leader, their ranks spanned from Green to Yellow, consisted of two Greens, three Blues, and one Yellow which is their leader.
They kept picking on lower ranked adventurers, or any adventurers that looked weak in some ways. Though, they weren't the most powerful group in the kingdom at the moment, now that Jonus and his team are here. But, it doesn't seem likely that Jonus and his team even care.
Then, an interesting story landed on my ears.
"The Swordsaint... she came to talk with them. As the high ranking adventurer, she must've felt the need to defend us weaker adventurers.
But... she ended up getting defeated by their leader. Of course, their leader cheated! That guy had more friends than the Swordsaint, so they won the judging and refuted any comments regarding cheating during the sparring.
For sure... those guys were paid. The Swordsaint was famous, but no one could back her up at all."
Hearing her story, both Khel and I were surprised. Khel has learned about the Swordsaint since Fran was getting more and more famous recently after reaching the Yellow rank, so she felt saddened after hearing what happened to her.
"That's terrible... what happened to her, then?"
"I wasn't sure... I left earlier before I saw the dispute came to a solution. I was... wounded."
Linda said while turning to the wound on her hand, and she quickly realized something was odd.
"Huh? It's... healed."
She lifted her hand away from me, and I only grinned at her.
"It healed a while ago. I was just pretending so you can tell me the story."
"O-Oh... was the story interesting to you, Miss Saint Healer?"
"Naturally. As a fellow saint, I'm curious about how the Swordsaint is doing."
I pretended as if I cared about Fran, and Linda only giggled hearing it. It was a little weird and absurd, but it's definitely worth a laugh.
"Can you tell me about their leader?"
I asked her, and Linda patted her arm where the wound once was before answering.
"His name is Marksus. He is a Yellow ranked magic swordsman, quite a seasoned adventurer that has been Yellow ranked for a long time. I remembered he can use wind magic. A very proficient one, at that."
High ranking adventurer who utilizes wind magic. Sounds simple enough to me.
"I see. He must be so strong if the Swordsaint couldn't beat him."
"That's not true! He definitely cheated!! The Swordsaint was definitely a lot stronger!"
"I believe you, Linda. There's no way the Swordsaint can lose to a bully like him if it was fair and square."
Hearing my supportive words, Linda smiles quite pleasantly. She seemed to be a fan of Fran, and praising the Swordsaint seems to be her favorite thing ever.
"I really... really despised them. They are a bully in the adventurers circle, and the fact that they are so powerful simply pisses me off."
"Don't worry, Linda. If what I know is true, then a very powerful adventurer will save the adventurers circle from a bully like that."
"Really? Ah! I think I know who you're talking about!"
Linda suddenly turned excited, but I only laughed alongside her without saying a word.
Yeah, Jonus ain't gonna do shit. I wasn't talking about him, anyway.
After that short conversation, Linda thanked us for healing her wound as well as being a friend to talk to. Khel and I waved our hands as she left the church, and the nun called for another person.
But before another patient arrived, Khel turned to me.
"You had a reason for asking all of those questions, did you?"
Khel asked, but I didn't bother turning my eyes to her. I feel so annoyed right now that I might just want to rush to the arena to beat people up.
"The number one thing that I hated the most are bullies. People who act as if they're high and mighty and step on the weak.
I am so itchy. I just want to beat those guys up. I can't stand listening to the cries of people who get unfairly stepped on."
I said while shaking my head multiple times, which made Khel a little scared. However, when the patient arrived at our table, I was already wearing my brightest smile.
"Good day, sir! How can we help you, today?"
.
After about thirty minutes, all the people waiting outside are no more. The whole act only took two and a half hours. All thanks to me, who healed almost 90% of the people.
The other nuns were clapping at me after the nun at the door announced there were no more patients, so I simply smiled and waved at them.
The claps stopped when the door of the church was knocked once more, and everyone turned their eyes to the door.
"""Oh, dear. It's the queen."""
Everyone thought like that, including me. The queen had this habit of coming late, when everyone else already left. Not just for her safety, but also because she doesn't want to ruin the process. Her mere presence can cause an uproar, after all.
The nun at the door opened. And she was surprised that it wasn't the queen, but some old man in a fancy suit.
"I am here as a messenger for the queen. I am here to see the Saint Healer."
The old man announced as he bowed to the people inside the church. The nun at the door looked at me, and I nodded at her. She let the old man enter, and he walked straight towards me.
Oh? Is he familiar with me? Or perhaps my position being at the center of the room gives it away?
