Chapter LIV - Daily Life (part 2)

"How's yesterday?"

I asked him regarding yesterday's mission he and the team took, but he only shook his shoulder.

"Normal. But, it's a bit annoying."

He explained about yesterday's mission. It was a Blue ranked mission, about demon beasts extermination. There were quite a lot of demonized beasts, and some of them even turned on their demonized mode.

I recalled how back then, five demon wolves had given me a hard time. Now, fighting hundreds of them should be an easy task for me.

No one got hurt, but Valey was quite scared of blood, so she was quite shocked when Cony sliced the stomach of a giant bear right in front of her. She puked on the spot.

"Yikes..."

"Yeah, even I would feel terrible if I saw the insides directly."

"Cony... likes blood?"

"She can stand it more than other people. There was this one time we were fighting a giant lizard. The size of the head alone is as big as our body.

Cony sliced the neck up close and opened the lid, making her bath in blood. She felt pretty normal. No, it's more like it doesn't really affect her."

"Wow... Talk about a sadist."

"And yet, during normal missions, she tends to be the one messing up..."

Hod lets out a sigh, and I'm only chuckling away.

"It's like she is wasting her talent or something."

"A talent to be a butcher?"

Hod lifted his shoulder to my guess, while I drank my tea.

Their mission yesterday was definitely taking a long time. It's probably because of the amount of beasts they're fighting, and those beasts are working together to fight them.

Hod did mention that the beasts's level was beneath them, so they had no problem executing the mission.

"It was quite the bloodbath, but we managed to get out in one piece."

"I don't really feel like I can withstood that much blood."

"Really? You slaughtered hundreds of red orcs. How can you say that?"

"... That's true..."

I finished my drink and pushed the plates and glass at him.

"Well, thank you for the meal."

"Oh, aren't you going to pay?"

"I'll pay later. Got a meeting to do!"

"M-Meeting!?"

And just like that, I left the restaurant, leaving the confused and angry Hod. I was quite in a hurry since time was running out, and the second bell was already around the corner.

First, I have to see Klane at the Office. She must be very busy compared to me, since she was the one gathering the people for the meeting.

Arriving at the Office, there weren't that many people, as usual. They all must have gone to the arena, now that the pests have been taken care of.

I walked to the receptionist desk, to see the person I wanted to meet... But she wasn't there.

"Hai, Rize! One second please."

Keila is there. She is currently handling an adventurer with a mission report. That adventurer is the only one in the line, so after this guy is gone, it's my turn.

After the adventurer left, I walked to the opening in the desk and talked.

"Where's... Klane?"

"She left a message for you."

Keila handed me a piece of paper. I opened it, and it's a bunch of written notes.

It's… a guide?

"She said to come to the said spot. That is where the meeting will take place. Do know that the place is quite the secret, so don't tell anyone where you are going. And here..."

She gave me a badge. No, it's an insignia. It's the mark of adventurers.

I have seen this logo before. There wasn't one here, but I have seen it before.

Oh, inside the Master's office on the second floor.

The badge is shaped like a shield, with a single sword behind the shield placed vertically, and a head of a bear drawn on the shield, facing left. This is a really cool badge, I had to admit.

I nodded and thanked Keila before leaving the Office.

I followed the directions that Klane had written for me on the note, and I arrived at the noble's housing complex.

"Come to the house with the blue gate, and talk to the security... Show him the insignia. He will show you the way."

I read out loud from the paper. I walked deeper into the noble's housing complex and arrived at a giant blue gate. Behind the blue gate is a vast green grass land with a road for carriages to move in and out. And at the end of the land, I can see a giant white house.

Whoever owns this house... they are no simple person.

The guard at the gate noticed me staring at the house. He approached me and asked.

"Speak. What is your reason?"

He wasn't quite friendly. I guess no one is when it comes to houses like this.

I showed him the insignia, and he quickly bowed.

"My apologies! We were expecting, but we were also told to stay on guard!"

He stood up and signalled his friend to open the gate. The gate quickly moved and opened itself. I'm guessing magic?

The guard lengthens his right hand towards the house at the end, while his left hand holds his chest.

"Please, ma'am. Follow me."

I followed him inside. The inside of the land is quite vast indeed. Green grass land with a single tree in the middle at two sides is reflecting the rays of the sun, shining green.

The walls are covered in leaves, while the road was separated with a little bit of small plants.

At the end of the road, there is a roundabout. In the middle of the roundabout is another large tree with lanterns put together on its branches.

On the roundabout, there seemed to be multiple carriages parked. Whatever is going on here, there are some important people coming.

We arrived at the front door, where it looks like it's made of very expensive wood. Hell, even the handle had a diamond on one end, not to mention it's made out of gold.

The guard knocked the door exactly three times with the same interval in between. The door was answered by an old butler. He looks like the butler you see in monopoly game covers.

"You must be Madam Rize. Come in, the Master is waiting along with everyone else."

The butler hurriedly left the door and walked. I thanked the guard and followed the butler.

For an old man, he walked quite fast.

We arrived in front of a giant door at the end of the hall. The butler opened the door without knocking, showing me the view inside.

It was a large round table, with a bit of space in the middle. The round table wasn't exactly round. There is one end where it has an opening, so that anyone can go to the middle.

And sitting on the seats around the table, are some of the most important people that I know.

The Master of the Office is there, of course. He is sitting at the far end of the table from the door.

Klane is sitting right next to him. She didn't exactly have a happy face, but when I came in, she looked quite happy.

On the Master's left is Jonus. Looks like he is quite needed in this meeting.

And right next to Jonus are some nobles that I have no idea who. However, one of them is wearing the fanciest clothes than the other. It's a woman, and her hair had a similar colour to the Office master. Something tells me that she is also royalty.

Klane signalled to me so that I would sit right next to her. I slowly walked at her without feeling any stiffness.

And as I looked around, the only other person not feeling any stiffness was Jonus. Being a White rank had its perks, I guess.

I sat down next to Klane and she quickly whispered something in my ears.

"If you do anything stupid, I'll kill you."

Wow. Thanks for the encouragement.

Soon... the meeting will begin. With so many important people here, I'm just wondering whether or not the topic of the talk will be so important.

Hopefully, it's nothing too serious.
