After sensing something very odd, I leaped towards the captain's position.
The poor captain was very startled when I landed next to him. He took his weapon out thinking I was an enemy, but he quickly realized my identity.
"Y-You...?"
"Captain, come with me."
I leaped away after saying that. The captain followed right behind me. I tried not to go too fast, else the captain might lose me.
We arrived at another dark alley not too far from the gate. There were two men here, both looked normal in casual outfits, but they both had a short sword right behind their back.
Me and the knight captain arrived at the location and caused panic in them. The two unsheathed their weapons immediately, but before they could shout or communicate, I already dashed forward.
Their eyes couldn't even read my movements while I moved as a dark blur, confiscating their weapons and taking them down.
By the time they realized, their faces were already at the ground, and my hands were holding both their heads down.
"Who sent you two? Why are you here?"
I added a little pressure to the air while I questioned them, but it seemed like it wasn't enough.
"Heh! You really think we would open our mo-"
My bad…
I'll make the air heavier for you. Okay?
The pressure on the air became tenfold, even the knight captain had trouble breathing. The two I'm holding down began to start having epilepsy, trying so hard to breathe again. Meanwhile, the captain looked like he was holding the walls to keep himself standing.
Please bear with it for the moment, captain.
"Now, I'm asking again. Who are you people, and why are you here?"
"We-P-Please… I can't… breath…"
"Then, better answer quickly."
"We… are knights... from the kingdom…"
I lowered the pressure just a little bit because they answered. Feeling the air lightening, the two began breathing the air much better.
"And?"
"We are here… to report…"
"About what?"
"About… the Amila noble..."
"And what about her?"
"That's…"
I gripped their necks harder. I can even hear slight cracks coming from the joints on their necks, which can be quite painful.
"AAAKKK--!!! Please!"
"We are going to report back to the office that she had left!!!"
Both of them started to answer. I slowly loosen the grip on their hands, and lowered the pressure even more.
"And why would you report?"
"F-For the…"
"For what?"
"For the assault!!!"
My brain geared a little bit to process the new information I just received. But after processing it for a while, I was able to understand what their intentions are.
The knights, suffering whilst keeping Lyona's location hidden, had no clue that they were being toyed around this whole time. And I, who was completely void of any information since the kingdom did not send any stalkers, was completely fooled as well.
This whole time... they knew where Lyona was. And now, they have successfully separated Lyona from me.
It's like everything was planned by them. This entire time, we were just pawns playing on a chessboard.
Knowing this fact, I became very angry.
"Tch!!!"
I released the pressure in the air, and the captain was able to breathe again. I smacked the two's face to the floor until they lost consciousness. In the end, I couldn't get myself to kill them, so I simply left them and rushed to the captain.
"They are planning to attack."
"Attack who...? Oh god..."
The captain realized what I was talking about, and he quickly turned towards the gate. I realized that the captain was completely oblivious to what was going on, and I can't really blame him.
The brains behind these stalkers from the kingdom... they know exactly what they're doing.
"Let's go. Quickly."
Me and the captain began moving once again, and this time to the castle's gate.
After arriving, we began to wonder exactly how we're going to exit the gate. It was surrounded by quite a lot of knights considering the depressing situation with the rebellion, but the captain suggested that he tried talking.
The captain tried explaining with the Veldonian knights at the gate, but the knights at the gate were quite difficult to talk with.
"What? No way. We aren't opening this unless you have a permit!"
"This is an emergency!"
"Still no! That's a rule!"
Odd... since when does leaving the gate require a permit? Usually, your name would just be written on a note. There's no need for a permit, especially not for civilians.
The captain is wearing a casual outfit for men, meaning no one should know that he is a knight on duty. He should be classified as a civilian.
Something is wrong, and my patience has gone very thin. Next to me, the captain was trying to reason, but I already took my foot forward.
"Listen, someone's life is at--"
"Fuck this."
The captain turned to me confused, and the two guard knights realized that I am rushing forward.
"W-Wha--"
BAKK!!!
BAAKKK!!!!!!
Very quickly, the two guards at the gate fell asleep. The captain realized that my way was far quicker, and he whistled.
"Nicely done."
"Open the gate."
"Yes, sir!"
The captain began running towards the lever to open the gate after I commanded him. The gate opened slowly, and the view outside could be seen. Immediately, I opened my eyes widely.
This... was a goddamn set up indeed.
"There!! Kill them!!!"
A shout can be heard from outside the castle gate, and I prepared myself for what is coming.
Right outside the castle gate, a whole squad of knights from the kingdom was already waiting for us to come out, and all of them were armed to the teeth. Arrows came flying over from the small gap that the door had opened.
I dodged every single arrow coming at me and kept moving forward.
The captain had already paused the gate from continuing to open, but the small gap was enough for the enemies to enter.
I can take on these knights, but the captain can't.
"Keep the gate open!"
I shouted at him as I ran to the gate, unsheathing my sword.
"Are you crazy?! There's too many of them!!"
The captain shouted, but I couldn't care less about their numbers. I just run forward, with every intention to fight.
Seeing that I'm not stopping, the captain reactivated the lever and allowed the gate to open wider. Seeing what was happening, the opposing captain of the Veldonian knights realized that the gate was now opening wider, and that I was rushing straight to their army.
"Huh!? Is he an idiot? Kill him!!"
The opponent knight captain, from on top of his horse, commanded the soldiers to enter the gate and fight the enemy. But to his surprise, the opponent is only a single person. Now that the gate is opened, he can see his opponent clearly.
It's only a single man, wearing dark brown robes and a skeleton mask.
The knights under him all charged forward, attacking the brown robed masked man. Everyone was shouting proudly with their weapons and blades up, ready to slice this one guy to pieces.
But, their structure collapsed instantly.
"Wh-Wha…"
In a span of a minute, all the knights were taken down. No one died, but it was humorous for all of them to fall down this quickly.
"How did this… happen…?"
The opponent knight chief mumbled on the ground. He had a large bruise on his head. His helmet is on his hand, with a large dent on the same exact position as his bruise.
He was a lower ranked magic knight on Veldonia. Even though he is a lower rank, he is still a magic knight. And yet, he got beaten down by some random guy with a mask.
He can only watch from the ground as his consciousness fades.
"Captain! Let's go!"
I shouted at the captain, who was hiding at the lever.
"Take the horses!"
I spared the horses deliberately so we can use them to catch up with the carriage. The captain took one horse, while I took another. We both rushed forward on the wide road as fast as we could to try and catch up with Lyona's carriage.
