There are also other rule changes, like there need to be at least one person who can use healing magic or any type of healers to do Yellow rank or higher. In this team, Barett works as the recovery guy. He owns a ton of bandages and other medical stuff. He also got a medic license from the Office, which apparently… a thing that I didn't know exists.
"Medics are an important role on the adventurer's battlefield. Not everyone is a healing magician, and it's absolutely essential for some high levelled mission, like dungeon raids."
Hod explained while Barett took out some healing gears from his magic ring, like bandages, alcohol bottles to kill any microorganisms, as well as Iodine bottles. Hod stared at these items for a few seconds before turning to Barett awkwardly.
"Okay, you don't have to show them here."
"Sorry."
He took the medical items back into his ring, and Hod continued his explanation.
"The other roles are the ones like swordsman, tanker, and those other stuff. Medic is just a second role for Barett, since he is a tanker."
"I'm a tanker and a medic. And also a barbarian."
"A tri-wielder?"
"You could say that."
He is both a tanker and a barbarian. He uses axes, and his armour and defences are quite strong. Added to that, is the fact that he is also a medic. As expected of a Blue ranked adventurer, he had many weapons up his sleeves.
"Me, I'm a magician and a swordsman, but mostly a magician. Cony is... just a swordsman."
"I'm learning to be a magician too, okay!"
She said as she lifted her right arm. On her hands, a hint of wind ball can be seen, but it was too small to be able to do any effect on opponents.
"Wow. You didn't tell me that you-"
"Ah! That was supposed to be a surprise!"
She clapped her cheeks. She was planning to surprise me with her ability to use wind magic, but she somehow forgot.
Seeing how annoyed she is, I chuckled and tried asking some questions.
"How... long were you able to use it?"
"Around three weeks now... I have been trying to use it to get better, but it's just bad."
"Have you tried getting a book about wind magic from the library?"
"Library's closed. Remember?"
Ah, right.
We both ended up agreeing to visit the library once it opens. I will also help her a bit in teaching her magic, because she described Hod as a terrible teacher and praised me for being able to learn from him.
Hod doesn't take it too well and shoots a small ice cube at Cony's glass. It was a warm tea, but now it's just a cold tea.
"Hey! It's cold now!"
Cony pulled the ice cube from her warm tea and threw it away. Hod of course, had to pick up the ice cube or else it will become a puddle on the ground. It can get the floor dirty when it gets stepped on by people's shoes.
Valey arrived seconds after Hod sat back down. She said hello to everyone and sat next to me.
Now, everyone is here.
"So what were you guys talking about? You didn't begin telling the story before I arrived, right?"
Valey said at me, but I shook my head.
"No, we actually waited for you. So far these three only told me about some more news I don't know, and also stuff about the roles."
"Roles?"
"Yeah, adventurer roles."
"There's roles?"
I held back my chuckle while everyone else facepalmed.
Barett explained to Valey about the roles. Mid explaining, Valey's food arrived on the table. She started chopping the meat as she listened to Barett.
"Oooohhh... Those are the roles..."
"Yeah. We were talking about how Barett had three roles."
"You had three?"
Barett grinned. He lifted three fingers, and started taking them down one by one as he listed.
"Barbarian, Medic, Tanker."
Valey nodded while wondering about something.
"Ohh... Come to think of it, what's my role?"
"I think you are an Archer, Valey."
"Just one?"
"Technically Magic archer is more proper."
Barett explained about the Magic archer role. It's where archers who are able to use magic combined their archery skills with their magic. There are also other merged roles, like Magic swordsman or Magic spearbearer.
"Then why isn't Hod a magic swordsman?"
I asked Barett, and Barett placed his hand on his chin as he pondered for a while.
"Well... you see, magic swordsmen merged their magic abilities with their ability as a swordsman. Hod doesn't merge his sword skills with his magic, so it doesn't make him a magic swordsman."
Barett finished his explanation, and then Hod then added an example.
"The perfect example for a magic swordsman is the swordsaint herself. Fran was able to merge her lightning ability with her sword skills. That's why she is so fast when she moved."
Ohh, so that's how it is.
Then that lightning guy, Prym, was also a magic swordsman. No, he is definitely a professional magic swordsman.
"And by the way, you too are a magic swordswoman, Rize."
"... I am?"
"Yeah. Your sword and fire slash."
"Oh..."
Right… I also enchanted my sword with fire magic. Though, that sword is history now thanks to that Dice guy.
"Was that my only role?"
I asked Barett, and he closed his eyes and placed his hand on his chin.
"Well… you can use fire magic without any weapons, so you are also a Magician. Plus you can use healing magic, so you are a Healer… and how you were able to enchant your body and threw a punch like that to the Buldavour today, so Close Combat Augmenter… and..."
Hod stared at me while Barett was thinking of more things.
"You could also be a tanker?"
"... I am?"
"The way you taunted the beast, that's a tankers role. Tanker also took damage from the enemy so that the others can attack while it's busy fighting you."
"Oh..."
Cony stared at me with utter jealousy, and she finally freaked out.
"How the hell does she have so many roles!?"
Everyone else shook their shoulders. I can only grin, without understanding much of these roles.
I… guess I'm an all rounder? I was a solo adventurer for a very long time. I haven't had any teams until I'm Purple ranked.
"Ugh, forget it! Now, it's time for us to hear the story!"
Cony said as she placed both of her hands to the table and then dropped her head on top of her hands. She is in position to listen.
Everyone else also seemed to be waiting. Their faces are showing their curiosity, but how can I tell them that the story is just sad?
"Gah… alright. The reason why I don't want to tell you guys this, wasn't because it's top secret or anything.
But because of how painful it is for me."
"P-Painful?"
I nodded heavily at Cony, and placed my hand on my chin.
Maybe I should start at the important parts, and leave the sad part at the end. I could start on the cooler parts first, so I went with that.
"Have you guys… heard about the sun's collapse?"
